This one was based on a photograph of a shaolin-monk http://balder.prohosting.com/enderby2/shaolin.jpg. All the other 'gimmicks' were added with Corel Photopaint. I got a little carried away, I guess ;) I'm still working on his face actually but I wanted to post this version already to see if anyone likes it at all. The conservative haircut is intentional btw because I imagine him being 'Joe Average' until he 'explodes'... Any comment is welcome!
Thanks Olivia.
I actually noticed just a few days ago that this was the case with many of my other portraits as well.
So I updated them with shorter filenames (not more than 15 characters) to fix it.
The reason why I didn't update the Firemage yet, was because I was planning to update it soon with some alterations anyhow.
But thanks anyway :)

Selvan,
Just downloaded this file and popped the files into my portraits folder. They showed up as a white rectangle. I renamed them with the usual format (po_m_h_frmge_x) and they show up fine now. Just thought you might like to know.

As I am a little etymology-fan, I had to check that out!
pinkie
"the little finger", 1808, in Scottish, from Dutch 'pinkje', diminutive form of 'pink' "little finger," of uncertain origin.
Dutch 'pink' = "small"
So that's probably the explanation, but in German there's nothing with pink, we only say 'little finger' - as far as I know.

@ Selvan: You're welcome. :D Glad I could be helpful.
@ Phaere: That is very cool. I still wonder why we call the little finger "pinky". It is no more pink than the other fingers.

Olivia: if translated to Dutch, we use exactly the same terms for fingers. :)

Selvan, here are English finger terms. Hold up your left hand, palm facing the screen. They are, in order from left to right:
* pinky (or little finger)
* ring finger (the weakest finger, incidentally)
* middle finger (the rude one ;) )
* index (or pointer) finger
And now I find myself wondering if non-American English speakers have different terms for the fingers.
And as for Elfhelm's vote... LOL. Positively mysterious. I DO wish people would say WHY they are voting so much lower than the rest.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. (well, except Elfhelm)
The fire was done by compositing multiple layers of cloud-effects (with altered colors of course).
You're right about his hand. It's his palm. I have to admit that the 4th finger is still too dark at the proximal part. I might change this sometime.
PS: Can anybody please tell me the Engish terms for the human fingers? I know one: thumb ;)

Wow, cool!
How did you do the fire? That's really impressive. The only thing I can't figure out is how the fire is comming out of his left hand (without staff), this looks somehow strange, do I see the palm or the back of the hand?
I know it must be the palm but ... the longer I'm starring at it the more I am thinking it's just an illusion and this all looks totally right, so never mind ;)

A portrait with lots of action which has to be utilized for a positively dangerous 'flamethrower' :-)
