UPDATED 10/26/04: This is the updated version of my very first portrait for the vault. I used to have both versions shown in the large preview. Now it's just the updated one. With this (hopefully last) update I've made some tiny changes with regard to the symmetry of his face and the _h.tga size.
Wow! Thanks for taking the time for such a detailed critique! :D
You really noticed some things I must have overlooked.
I will consider a new update.

Okay, now I've had more time to give this a proper look over, here are some things I notice.
* Great lighting. I especially love your choice of background. It looks magical and beautiful.
* His face is asymmetrical. This is to be expected in a natural being, but in the second version it looks as though the jaw on the left was accidentally liquified and pushed in. One way to fix that would be to copy the other side of his face, flip it, and blend it in. You'd have to work on shadows, but you'd have more symmetry and fix the jaw in one move.
* His eyes are more obviously different colors here. Perhaps darken the lighter one?
* The sleeves look kind of strange next to the armor. Less real, I suppose. Also, the chain underneath looks green on the left side and not very green on the right.
* He's got a wonderful expression.
* You've chosen some excellent armor with lovely details. Some might say too heavy for a rogue, but he could be multiclassed. And he doesn't have to be stealthy ALL the time. :)
* The detail on the chain is very sharp and lovely.
I think this is a very nice upgrade on the original.

Oooh! I like the updated armor and background. *sigh* I need some lessons.

Oh yeah, I see male noted there now. I thought it was a girl, it's a bit of an androgynous face, :)
Óh well, I seem to have that a lot.

@Phaere: Thanks! I see what you mean but once the picture was complete I couldn't have changed it so easily, so I didn't.
By the way: the base picture was that of a man, and so is the halfling...

Great job, but there is something disturbing the overall picture. :)

All elements look great individually but altogether it is a bit much. I think it is the background mostly that is too blurry for my taste. It does give it a very computergame feel, but it also makes me dizzy to look at the picture.
I love the head by the way: she has such an interesting face, you just HAVE to look at her. :)

I think his (or maybe even her) expression is very well done. And if theres need of some graphics-software: theres allways the GIMP ;-) .

The armor could use a little shadow and highlights to better blend with the rest - but overall this is very good, especially the face (the most important part of a portrait).

Very, very well done screenshot armor. You did great at removing that 'poly' feel to it, and the head you modified goes perfectly!"Me Go Beer!" - Mr. Dave _________________________ Me go beer!
