This is my first portrait of a character who's hand can also be seen - now I know why I always avoided doing it. I'm not too happy with the shadows and highlights and the level of sharpness in all parts of the picture but I call it finished nonetheless. Hope someone likes it. Comments welcome! UPDATED: had to change the filename for in-game usage

Y'know, this feels very Tolkienesque to me. Not LotR tolkienesque, but more like The Hobbit. This is a lot like how I envisioned Thorin and his crew to be like. Sturdy and prepared, but not some axe-slinging berserker wearing three tons of armor. I really like this one.

I like the portrait, and I think the arm and hand are very good. I disagree with Firiel sbout the arm. it just looks short from the perspective, and then how his shirt is on the upper arm... =P Very cool.
@Phaere: Yea, I see what you mean with respekt to the background. In my next portraits I'll try to integrate the character into the environment a little better. But hey, I have to leave room for improvement. ;-)
Very good picture, nice dwarf-like he is, and I love his stance and props. The background seems a little flat though, he does not seem to be really standing in the environment but more in front of it.
I especially like his beard and how the lights hits it. :)

I think his hand as a hand is quite good, I only have the impression, that his arm is a little short or perhaps only to thin and therefore his hand to small. But it's nothing you have to change, I like it as it is :) A really sweet little fella :)

I don't see any real problems with the lighting, just to the contrary. He looks natural (no grumpy militaristic with overdimenioned weapons but seeming well versed in the use of his equipment).
