The photo was too good to pass, I had to make a char out of it. What I did: first I lightened it then I gave the face and coat a layer of paint and added texture to the coat. I then painted in new hair and added the ponytail while I was at it, also added a little paint and highlights to the beard. Finished off with the dodge/burn tools and added a hint of the paint-dub effect. He could make a good NPC, or a barbarian I think. Maybe a retired one? He looks kindof weary of life doesn't he? To me he looks like a viking so I gave him a good viking name; Magnus Blodks (Bloodaxe) ;)

Thanks so much, -all of you. But the sorce pic was already so good that I couldn't do that much wrong. The hair was the toughest job, -it's always the toughest job :p Lol @ eb52t. Yes, his coat was kindof Santa'ish as it was originally red :p That's why I felt a need to paint it brown and add leather texture :D"Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak"

At first I thought the base photo was of some Santa Claus.Timmy C. Everything is only because you think it is. For indeed, your brain can be interpreting your senses' signals wrong...in which case everything that you think is real, is only a product of your imagination. _________________________ Timmmeahhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I gladly agree with Olivia. This is another portrait with character and not the every day adventurer. I think he would do very good as a barbarian (working against the cliche that barbarians have to be brutish heroes with no pause or brain).
