Jarath is my third portrait based on a picture of Xena, but this time I changed almost everything. I just loved the pose she had in this picture. Head is from a name-less asian girl. Armour was created from several pictures of armour pieces, and metal textures. Added background, relighted, usual stuff. You know what.

You based this on a portrait of Xena? She doesn't even resemble Xena. You must have worked really hard on it to change it this much. Great job.
And the weapon of the feamle samurai is the naignata. And yes, there were female samurai.

Interesting picture, but nothing about her says "samurai", including the background, and the woman does not look Japanese...but still a good picture.

Any woman who chose a male name basically decided to be a samurai in medievel japan. Odd though, becaus this looks more like a celtic ranger than a samurai (no katana, no wakizashi, no samurai armor, no offense). Very similar to a scott I once knew who learned to beat up fencers or kendo masters or anything in padded armor with a spear (blunt-tipped, of course). Beat her up with a blunted kukri (yes, they're real) once.

Believe it or not, women COULD be samurai in Japan, they just weren't in the armies. And, since the katana was a man's weapon, they were trained with a polearm weapon (I forget what its name was) instead.

I love the portriat and will be using it. What's in a name? Would a rose under any other name still be a rose? =P (Yeah, I probably butchered that, but the point remains.)

Excellent photo collage as usual. I like the suit of armor a lot. The only problem that seems to jump out is the headpiece...it seems to be turned straight at the camera, while the woman's head isn't *quite* directed straight ahead. But it jumps out enough that I find it rather distracting.
