This was not originally meant as a nwn portrait, but I thought it could be usable so I'm uploading it anyways. He would probably make a good npc or maybe even a young druid :) I spent close to 2 days on the original piece which can be found here http://www.deviantart.com/view/14093149/ A lot of airbrushing went into this one. All clothes are painted from scratch and texture added. Hair was mostly painted, -added a couple of hair-brushes to 'fill it out' more. Background was a b&w photo that I added color and many brushes to. Stock-photo used: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/13885755/
When it comes to atmosphere, no one, but *no one* here on the vault can hold a candle to your stuff. Not to mention that your elves look a lot more like what one would expect them to look like, and not either like gaunt freaks or the model-du-jour.
No no I appreaciate that you share your opinion, especially when it's constructive critisism. Yes it is rather difficult to use high-lights on this kind of material. I wanted the vest to look all mossy like, like a part of the forest floor, and not like a piece of armour. And if you take a look at his pants you'll notice that it has a bark like texture. This elf is very much a part of the forest :)"Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak"

I don't know either how to fix it as the material doesnt allow some highlights (as it is realistic- non glossy ;-) ).
And working on it even more might include the risk of doing the wrong thing (well it happens to me in such occasions). So I think the best way is to keep it as it is - and the problem with that kind of art is that sometimes you start to see flaws where ther isn't one. Some garments on real pictures might seem to be flat but they aren't (but here we believe it, because it's real). So I hope I didn't cause to much fuss...
... but maybe enlightenment might strike me one day how to do this (learning something new with every picture).
I know what you mean Sagadur but quite frankly I don't know how to fix this, mainly because of all the textures on the vest. I added some shadow to the right (his left) and the raised lines to hopefully make it less flat-looking and I'm not sure what else to do. Thanks for the input thogh :)"Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak"

His vest looks a little flat....
This is not to blemish your work, it just is the only little (teenie weenie) flaw I can see in this (so simply ignore it).
This is breathtaking (and thus the first picture to achieve that effect in me). Congratulations!

Excellent work, the result is worth the effort, I enjoy to see an elven portrait that shows an elven character with more elven features than the pointed ears...

Oh okay, I was sleeping just now, the background was black and white not the model. Nonetheless, it is even more impressive when looking at the original pic. You made quite a difference in the end result.

Wow! I mean ... wow. This one is a masterpiece. Jeeez, I cannot get over the fact how you keep evolving in your technique.
I LOVE this one. :)
How ever did you make this of a black & white? I guess I will check out the source pic, now. He has such unusual features which are nicely suited for an elf.
