This portrait was done as a request. He is an elf bard happily playing with his lute....I think he turned out looking more like a half-elf though. 0_o This portrait was made through a little bit of fiddling with a poser demo, a ton of photoshop, and I also tried my hand at doing a little photo-manip with the clothes and the lute. I was too lazy to paint them on myself..... I hope ya like! ^^

Very good, I love the fact that he's actually holding an INSTRUMENT, as he's a BARD. A huge amount of bards are just scantily clad ladies (and occasionally men), who don't really look very bard-y(???). As a musician, I find this rather distressing. Anyway, good job.

It's beautiful and full of character and atmosphere... looks like a labo rof love to me. Are you sure about the placing of the left (strumming/picking) hand though? Looking at the shoulder and the cloak, it seems that it can't possibly be at that angle, I think. Otherwise, very nice.

I think all those sparks are very nice and it's a fine idea to actually show the magic in his music. But for my (very personal) taste, less would be more (but that's definetly personal opinion).
I also think that his contours could need a bit more blending with the background (by bluring them slighly or cutting them a bit more).
But not to get me wrong: I like the play of light in this picture and the overall mood very much and thus the critique schould be seen as minor. Especially as none of it is important for the sizes used in portraits.
