Meet Amara the elf. She likes furry animals, pizza and long romantic walks in the woods. She also likes to kick a little butt from time to time so don't make fun of her ears! Started off with a great PR shot of Jessica Alba (from Dark Angel I believe) and performed the usual elf 'surgery' (enlarge and slant eyes, shrink mouth, add pointy ears). The forest was made from scratch using some stock textures of leaves and bark.
No offence taken whatsoever, RIQ :) You aren't the first one to suggest darker hair, although I think I prefer the idea of putting some leaves and camoflage in her hair instead. I'm seriously considering another version of this portrait based on some of the feedback I've received (maybe I'll call her Tamara and pass her off as Amara's twin!!). Right now I'm kind of on hiatus though as I'm in the middle of rebuilding my computer :( BTW, I blame the apparent size of her... er, assets on the thickness of her chainmail vest ;)

I like the picture but would suggest some changes strictly from my own point of view. Dont get offended please.
Her hair looks too good, too artificical. I would tone down the blonde a lot or why not change her hair to black? I think she would look great with dark hair.
If she really likes to sneak in the woods her armor is way too bright. Make it darker and make her pants dark brown, dark green or black.
She seems to be a little too much "well endorsed" in the chestdepartment for an Elf since they are usualy more slimly built. Perhaps she can be a Half-Elf or Human?
Again this is just my very own opinions. Dont bother with them if you dont like them. :)___________________________________________________________

How do you mean MasterAub? It's propped up and her hand is supposed to be on her knee. I guess that might not be obvious with her foot disappearing into the bushes :(
I think that's a good idea Poecile. I'll probably post another version with a bit of camo. I guess I can see both sides of the argument. On the one hand you don't want it to look too posed but then on the other hand, it is a portrait. When I was making this portrait, I did try and put some leaves in her hair but then I opted for the feathers instead. I'll do another version in the near future just to see how it looks. Probably have to put it off for a bit though as I'm working on three more portraits right now, then I may have to take a break for a bit. My wife is starting to worry that I'm getting obsessed :)

Oh, and sbrage2000, if you do muss up her hair and/or complexion, there's no need to get rid of this original pic. You could add another set to the zipped file. You could have both versions.

As a snapshot, her hair is beautiful. Almost too beautiful if you think in a larger scope.
The portrait is fantastic, but there's something about a Wild Elf skulking through a dim forest that suggests a bit of camouflage, see tiger stripes.
The pic is perfect as a publicity still if this were someone seeking to become a model, but I think (it's only my opinion) that she could be a bit more "outdoorsy".

I disagree with the bottom posters. Her hair is beautiful. There is a lot of yellow in her surroundings (i.e. the mushrooms, in the green in the leaves). The coloring is very artistically balanced. Even the browns in her leggings and in the tree are very warm colors. Most likely, any other hair color would clash. It's perfect the way it is.
Overall, Excellent portrait! A fantastic job!

Really, really, really nice portrait! Looking forward to seeing a little grimy moss in her hair and perhaps some streaks of mud on her face? She needs a little of that outdoorsy, Wild Elf look.
I'm fine with her hair and I really like the whole picture but I have to comment on her ear (even if she'll be mad about me): Due to the fact that her hair-strand seem to pass behind her earas a whole, it looks like the ear is barely attached to her head (you almost fear it might fall off any second).
I based her look on the description of a wild elf (a little bulkier and with yellow hair) but I really like the idea of moss in her hair. A little natural camoflage. Hmmm. I think I might try that!

Really nice portrait, but I'd agree with the poster below... Her hair would stand out in a shady forest. Perhaps she would want mottled hair to mimic the dappled light of the dim woods... Just grab a clump of moss and squeeze it through a few strands of her hair?

Very good portrait. A real good job with turning her into an elf, and the background is great! The only thing that could make the portrait better for me on a personal basis is if she had dark hair, but that's just my own taste. Very good!
