I had considered simply updating the legionnaire portrait I created earlier but I figured they were a bit different and didn't want to get rid of one. I added some color to it but I kept a winter theme. When I use the title 'centurion' I don't include historical accuracy. This portrait is a combination of greek and roman armor. Sorry for the similarities between the two portraits.
The helmet is a lot better than the one in your previous portrait, I'll say. Good job~~~~

The Greeks used the phalanx formation and the soldiers didn't have to do much except march in the same direction and jab anyone in front of them who wasn't Greek. The helm was probably intended for intimidation. Roman helms generally were open faced and only the Centurions or commanders had the horse-hair to distinguish them from the legionnaires.
With that said, this is a "fantasy" portrait. I designed it purely to look cool.
Um... people DID wear helms like that back then. :)

Looks nice, though a little too much photogenic. Also the headdress is a little bit too large I think. Wearing a helm like that would be a pain to the neck, aswell as very inconvenient.
