Description
Cymbeline was made in a snap by assembling six pictures and blending them with my personal recipe. I guess you're getting all used to it. ;) Cymbeline is a human healer, and was created for Verasia RPG - let it be known, for I do not wish anyone to claim that Verasia stole my art and put it on their website.

Beautiful...

Ahh.. Beautiful as all of your work. Love the smile, most of the pictures in any category seem to be angry, seductive etc. Happy pictures are a rarity :)

So you're the one who made this beauty... :)
I first saw it in CEP, and thought "oh my god! why don't bioware hire these guys!"
Clear 10 from me. :)
Keep up the good work!

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 62 that made this score of 8.27 then rounded to 8.

isnt that the girl from The Practice? Marla(?) Sokolov

Brown or hazel eyes might have fit more realistically with the Indian style theme, but this is a portrait for a fantasy game, so realism isn't such a strict limitation. Personally, I think the blue eyes help tie all the blue elements in the picture together. And they make her look more mystical and unique. If she'd had brown or hazel eyes, she'd look like any other mundane person from the real world.

I don't know why people complain about this one's Indian-looking costume on a blue-eyed woman while no one has yet criticized my Native American-looking costume on a redhead. :) Anyway, I keep coming back to look at this portrait. It really strikes me. Plus, she reminds me of Claudia Christian.

I'm impressed, as always, with the quality of Amalthea's work. I looked at this portrait and thought, "cleric of Selune."

I do think it would be a good idea for portrait creators to come up with portraits that showed more ethnic variety among humans (there are photos of models who aren't of northern European origin to work from, I'm sure), that's not intended as a criticism of this particular portrait, which I think is excellent.

Absolutely gorgeous!! The blue eyes are a nice touch, they are so well matched with the cloth that I feel they make the whole portrait into a spectacular addition to the game.

The lighting on top of the "hood" looks odd. it seems further back than the hair it covers (probably due to the contrast in colours). Perhaps a little tweaking here may be in order but apart from that a good picture. I did not download it yet because I haven't been inspired to make this kind of character but I might do so for the quality of the artwork. You never know :).

Absolutely, completely, and altogether marvelous. Keep up the beautiful work- I'll be looking for it :-)

I cannot emphasise enough how much we need ethnic diversity in Dungeons & Dragons. You've played a blinder with this one, fella.

Posted by Amalthea ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-06 16:46:00
Uh... is this guy down here serious? I mean, I would understand disliking a portrait, but this is a bit strange...

Posted by LOL ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-06 12:19:00
OK i cant make 1 better but its ugly, i dont like it... i hate it! But... I CANT MAKE PORTRAITS!!!

VINCENT, YOU LITTLE AZZHOLE!!!!!! THIS PORTRAIT IS +blocked+ED AND THE WORST THING IN NWVAULT SO SHUT THE FUK UP!!!!

I tell you: I hate it...

This is a portrait for a *fantasy* game. Whether or not aspects of the image appear "Indian" or "European" is not strictly relevant. If realism is so important, why not go pick on the pictures of people with pointy ears?

Posted by Anonymous ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-05 23:37:00
Although I personaly dislike the concept of this portrait your execution is ,as always, flawless. Good work.

Posted by anonymous ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-05 13:57:00
Like TuPaal said, if you're trying to make an indian-looking woman to match those indian clothes, darker eyes (and slightly darker hair) would be in order. But if it was your intention to make a european women wearing indian clothes, then the eye colour is fine. Overall, it looks good.

I agree by far with Apricane....I wait and wait every day for your next upcoming portrait and for now, have never been deceived. Keep up the good work!

Oh, btw, are you planning to make a Female Archer one day? Cause I played a lot Baldur's Gate with this character (I used one awesome portrait made by someone, can't remember the name, but it's quite famous, it's an archer in armor with a red and yellow background, looking to the side and aiming with her bow), and have not found an equivalent in Neverwinter Nights, so I was wondering f you could make one, which would be very kind.

Anyway, thank you again for this masterpiece!

Posted by Crusadia ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-05 10:26:00
Awesome work as usual Amalthea, have you ever thought of putting all your past work into one pack?

Posted by Apricane ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-05 09:30:00
Amalthea, if I havent said it before, let me say it now..

YOU ARE BY FAR THE BEST ARTIST ON THIS HOMEPAGE!

Really, next to your works, everyone fades.. . Including me... (;

I have all your portraits exept the drows, and they are just so (!) good, far better than even biowares. Keep it up! Ill never get enough!

Interesting effect. I support your decision to use a blue-eyed girl for the face. Extremely beautiful when all is said and done.

hey that's marla sokoloff.

Posted by TuPaal Kamuk ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-04 22:30:00
Hey not bad. I am very familiar with these type portraits.
She seems more indian-punjabi like. The clothes shes wearing is a punjabi saree. And she has a complete punjabi make up on her too, which includes the jewelery she adorns. The huge dot on the centre of her head is called BINDHI by most eastern people. Its a typical indian makeup. Everything looks good apart from her eyes, which i think destroies the whole image. May be black or hazel brown would make it more realistic and intact with her features.
And by the way, these saree's are heavy and very nonflexible.
not bad work, great for a female monk.

Multiple photos, eh? You are one heck of an artist man, really.

That is all

Once again, an excellent piece of work, Amalthea! I am wondering just what is that thing between her eyes supposed to be however. Is it a mystical 'Third Eye' as found in some Asian cultures?

I'm also wondering if you might take a look at making more male portraits, especially for monk, rogue and druid classes. There seems to be a dearth of good portraits for them, and I'd love to see your work expand into those areas!
