Hello there... This is Braint, a Dunlending character on Wireplay's Untold Tales of Tolkien II server. She's a digital painting, which means that I painted this image by hand, and did not use a photo except to look at and make sure I wasn't getting the figure proportions too wrong. I find I need to point this out, since I get voted down by people who think it's another photo manipulation or celebrity photo nearly every time. Hope you like it!
People who have seen King Arthur will no doubt recognise the costume... this is a little unfortunate, since I'd have left the top off in order to make more of the warpaint, but since whenever we see a white woman (as opposed to an african or amazonian tribeswoman) bare-breasted there are connotations of sex, which I wanted to avoid. She's supposed to be a fast and dangerous warrior, and definitely not a pin-up, so I went with the guinevere-esque costume as a way to convey a feel of pre-roman british tribes (celts), which I'm sure Tolkien's Dunlendings are partly based upon.
If you have an opinion, please rate it and leave any comments or suggestions... I do read and enjoy them. Cheers!

Wow you made this? You got a beautiful talent there the-small-print. Hope you keep on making more portraits. Love the realism of this portrait as Ben Harrison stated.

the-small-print,
I must agree with all the other posters here - this is an awe-inspiring, simply fantastic portrait, and very much in need of a 10! It is nice to have options for a PCs portrait that more closely align with the life and times of said PC, and not just some doctored up cutie. Thank you for submitting this gem to the community!

This one is even better the Aewens portrait, she is very close to be real. Its the small (human)imperfections that make her outstanding and realistic.

Thanks for the votes and comments, much appreciated ;)
...especially Ben Harrisson. You've hit the nail on the head. Whilst I like the idea of female fighters, I need them to be convincing, and not look like a playboy model limply holding a fancy sword. She's supposed to be a fast and skilled fighter, who uses agility and speed to place her blade and get out of the way, having trained for this life since early childhood, hence the musculature. Body-builder bubbles may be very strong, but are the result of lifting heavy weights. The muscles that professional athletes, dancers, gymnasts and martial artists get are the result of a *lot* of practice, much harder to achieve, and if you're fighting hand-to-hand, are much more useful.

Love it.
btw, The version of King Arther with the Celts appearing like this, (and Merlin actually making sense) is IMO the best version I've seen and seen and seen and will certainly watch again. heh heh _________________________ Help is good when asked for,

Beautiful work!
The musculature is very well done, most noticably in her arm(s); she visibly has significant functional strength, without losing her femininity or looking out of proportion. I love the sensual soft-skinned warrior women in fantasy as much as anyone, but this is the kind of shape you'd be in if you ran and climbed and fought all day.
Anyway, it clearly deserves nothing less than a 10. Thanks! _________________________ [Blog] [Mods]
