I've been working on a lot of other things recently (namely my website and some other artworks) and felt like it was high time to get another portait up. This one was a quick paint, perhaps 2-3 hours, a composite of two photos (the original of the young lady is here: http://www.deviantart.com/view/4760345/ ) Elarhyn is primarily intended as a rogue, but could also be a monk. I gave her ambiguously angled features, so she could be human, half-elf or elf. She steals through the city by lantern and moonlight...
An excellent portrait as usual. Great clothes, expression, mood lighting! Keep up the great work!

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 25 that made this score of 8.52 then rounded to 9.

I love this portrait - this has got to be my favorite of yours. I love seeing all of your portraits mind you. You have a great sense of compostion, excellent hand, an unquestionable sense of fashion, mood, lighting (blue light off her hand, back, arms white/yellow off the knee face). I think why I like this so much has something to do her pose expression. But mostly with how you painted over the existing painting and dressed her - the brush strokes rough linework give it that interesting painted touch. I especially like the LOTR Bracer Style. My only crit- a very small one - is that the face has somewhat less of the well done painted look than the rest of the portrait. Please don't take it wrong - as this is an exceptional portrait (esp. for the amount of time it took!!). Awesome work thanks for sharing it!

Heh... thanks for the positive comments. The reason this was so quick is because it was photos--one for her and one for the stone wall background (which was actually originally in broad daylight, so I had to repaint that a bit.) But even so, photos go so much faster than having to render the whole thing myself! After that I didn't have to paint very much, just put the lighting in the right place, and add a few details like the tatoos, and the slight changes to the clothing. I pretty much focused the whole piece around lighting the figure, so that is where I spent most of the time. I had a lot of fun doing the blue backlight, and adding blues and red and purples to her hair arm and face. Shadows can be fun when you use lots of colors. ;-)

2 hour paint? Man you work quick! Although you may not like what I'm about to say, I think that this is the best portrait you've done from looking at your previous portraits (this is not saying that previous portraits are bad, but I didn't feel that they have the same impact as this one). Excellent use of lighting and style. The Background definately defines the portraited character a lot more. The more I look at it, the more I find it hard to believe you only spent 2-3 hours on it :) there's a lot of detail in it!
