This is the portrait version of Falana. Some things have changed from the original artwork I posted (although they are minor modifications). I worked on the hand and some of the shadows, as well as on her eyes. I did try (for those who suggested it) to add some snow on her hood but it didn't look right and sometimes you have to say 'I'm done with this!' The sword is only visible in some of the pics, as you will see. But, for clarification, it is to a halfling what a claymore is to a Highlander. I decided to focus on her face as the image got smaller. I did try the portrait in my game and it worked. (I followed Bioware's instructions.) Please let me know if you have any trouble. As always, comments are welcome. Enjoy! ~ Tirados
One of my favourite portraits - full of character and charm. More! More! :)

Yay! I was hoping to find this portrait up here among the top rated! Once again great work.

Thanks Harry!
Yes, I prefer the originals over the photo manipulations. For, while it takes a bit of time to figure out Photoshop or other programs to make really nice photo manipulations, it takes a lot more effort and skill to actually draw something that more than just a stuck figure.
Photoshop and other programs are designed so that anyone can cut and paste photos and mess witht the filters and things but to actually use it to create paintings as you and others do is much more difficult. (Getting off my soapbox now.)
As for the hood I was thinking the weight of the cloth kept it from folding too deeply, but I made some lumps and things to show where the cloth was no longer supported by the head or was the end of a deep crease closer to the brooches, or something like that. But it might be too smooth. I think it had deeper creases and I softened them because I didn't like them.
But as of now, Falana is officially DONE! Heh.
Anyway, thanks for the comments. Looking forward to seeing more of your work, too Harry.

Wow this is great! I remember this in the featured artwork & I love seeing these original works and the different styles that the artists have. There are some good photo manip works but I prefer the sketched ones.
Great look to the Face, clothing and armor & pose. also nice subtle texture differences in the skin, armor, & cloth. My only minor comment is detail in the top of the hood - maybe it just needs a few more creases or longer creases? I don't know (I'm no expert). But don't get me wrong I think its great! and know that sometimes if you over work it, it screws it up!
Also it not easy taking artwork & adapting it to a portrait - good choice in compostion. I look forward to your upcoming work.

Wow! Thanks G'Windinel! Actually, yes, I AM working on another and, hopefully, it will take a LOT less time than this one did. After all, I have more time to devote to it now. I am painting the line art drawing of Falana's companion, Fauxen, that you can find in the Featured Artwork section of this site. :)

Such vision. I bow to your aptitude.
Can we expect anymore anytime soon?

Heh, NoMercy, I finally released the portraits. I am sorry it took longer than I told you it would.
Bodangly, this is an entirely original work. taken from a scanned pencil drawing (by myself, of course), that I painted over in Photoshop 6. I did have some objects as guides. The tartan sash is based of the pattern of a Black Watch tartan beret coin purse while the chain holding her sword sheath in place is based on the style of a belt around the waist of a collectable doll I have. (The color, lighting and placement are totally different.) And finally, the background scene is very loosely based on a photograph of the Alps. However, I added the clouds and painted the the mountains to look like an ice wall in the near distance instead of mountains in the far distance.
So, yes, it is handmade. :)
Thanks you both for your interest and comments. :)

I love it! Everything came out very nice, and I really like the painted feel of this. It looks like it might be all original artwork, did you use any photographic stuff, or is this hand drawn?
