I decided to create a dancing scimitar today, on one of those strange whims of mine. This was the result. Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed. Because the scimitar uses the null human model, the sword is nearly invisible when it has its back turned to you. This also means that when the sword is in certain combinations of shadow and light, parts of its legs and torso are visible. But I decided that after I went through the work I did, I might as well post it here. Maybe someone will find a use for it. :) Here's how it works: Upon using an item named 'Dancing Scimitar' (go figure), the item is destroyed and a Dancing Scimitar henchman is added to the PC's party. The player can pick it up at any time again by starting a conversation with it, or waiting for it to die - which they tend to do just for balance reasons.

I was using the nwviwer tool to reveiw item properties and found one called 'dancing_scimitar', and i was wondering if anyone knows what that is about...

Oy! You read my mind... I made my own dancing scimitar a while back... and it is SOOOOO annoying sometimes. (Have some archers attack your sword... you will se what I mean)
Over all it is a very impressive effect, nonetheless.

Sweet! I used this to base my Figurines of Woundrous Power too, been wondering how I was going to do it for a week until I saw your hak :) Thanks, and keep up the awesome work!

Don't beat your self up man, this is excellent! I even find that I like the ghost of the null human as it makes it easier to track the schimitar's movements. I can't wait to use this to fulfill all my dancing weapon dreams! ^^;
Kudos,
Frothy

What they were using is the null-human model (you can activate it with the console command).

Are you sure about that? I have seen people using invisible skins for their appearance, and I never noticed any oddities at all about it. But maybe it is different for PCs.

Jspeed: that will lead to a very odd effect. If both torso and pelvis are invisible - you will see in the game a sort of cube in the middle - very ugly. I tried that before and it didn't look good (I did this in version 1.27 - I don't know if this is different in 1.29). The nullhuman is the best option you have here.

Instead of using null human, try using a regular human, and then customizing their appearance. Each body part has its own invisible option. If you clothe them, however, theyt will be visible in their entirety. i.e. an invisible torso wit a strap across it becomes a visible torso etc. You can also leave the hand holding the sword visible. flourescent green looks nice :)
