As close to historical accuracy as one can get with the Toolset and using no haks other than CEP, this is the whole city of Ancient Babylon as it looked at the height of it's power and the dawn of it's decline. All the famous places are here: the Ishtar Gate, the Hanging Gardens, the great ziggurat known in biblical times as the Tower of Babel, the Royal Palace and much, much more have been faithfully re-created with exacting detail, while only the most necessary of liberties were taken. For instance, whereas the actual city had hundreds of gates, and eight major ones leading into the city, I simplified my Babylon by having the Ishtar Gate being the only main gate into the city, and a more reasonable amout within. Also, I based the layout of the city on a map from the time of Alexander the Great, which I saw in a book I own. Not every area was shown on the map, so I did a great deal of research to make each of the city's districts correct. For the Prison, I wanted to portray something of the ancient Babylonians' reputation for being merciless to their foes. As for the Necropolis, that came from a legend that said how in it's declining years, some parts of Babylon fell into ruins and were sometimes used to house the dead, when not just left to wild beasts. My Necropolis area reflects the legends well, but wild beasts are not included. Lol. Where history is silent I went by archeological information as well as Biblical accounts. All in all, this is a must-have for those who like to build modules set in historical or Biblical times. You can visit the city on the demo module and see how you like things, or you can import the .erf file containing all nine areas featured in the demo into your own modules. I have included a readme file as well, which lists each district of Babylon with all points of interest mentioned. In-game map notes will tell you where in each area these sites of interest are. Enjoy your Nwn trip back in time to Ancient Babylon! * Enjoy, and be sure to vote *

I downloaded this for another server back in 2006, I was not able to vote then so here it goes. Since working on my current project I came upon a idea that required a city run by dragons. I first thought of this prefab and downloaded it. Once I had it in my mod I realized I need look no further as everything i was looking for was right at my fingertips. thank you chaos theocrat for making this and giving me some inspiration.
Thank you! _________________________ -------------------------------------------

Argh, that comment was meant for Solomen's Temple. Oh well, this is also a good effort. It doesn't personally excite me as much as some of the others, but since I can't remove the rating I might as well say I like it. *laughs*

The amount of care that you obviously expend on detailing with placeables in your areas is amazing. I particularly appreciate the two-level approach you have used inside the this temple (and in others of your prefabs), which gives an effect of loftiness without the use of custom skyboxes.

This is a well thought out set of areas. Highly reccomended. I am using several of them in my MOD/PW.

I came across the Megiddo prefab last night, and promptly had to have all your areas. Having wandered them for hours, I have to pop in, and give every single one a big 10. I'd give them a twenty if the Vault would let me.
Hmmm. Useful & constructive comments... Freeking Gorgeous. I've always wanted to mod, but have been afraid of the coding & design involved, and prefabs have always left me flat, bored, and uninspired. Compared to your stuff, all other prefabs are cardboard-box & couch-cushion forts. I am completely inspired, and will not be able to rest until I graps the toolset well enough to fill these awe-inspiring landscapes with people, myths, and adventures! _________________________ "There's no religion but time & motion-

I wanted to add that just the Babel district by itself is worth the whole download. This whole thing was very well thought out. There also was not a lot of placeables used--so it's nice for persistant worlds in keeping lag down. I LOVE THIS!!

Now I have to figure out how to incorperate this into my hollow world. *scratches head*
I do love artistic effort. Thank you so much!

Ah, I just had a look at the View Stats now. You are correct, Mave, it was your vote, so thank you very much. That was a great comment that you gave with the vote; very much appreciated. Cheers!

Hey it was me that voted :( j/k Just had to mention that, just click on view stats to read my comment, it really is a good city though
It's pretty impressive. Sorry about the multiple cools. Don't know how that happened. Really great work. Mayhaps we'll see some more historically accurate cities and or famous locations from you. Cheers! _________________________ "Inconceivable!"

Thanks for the vote, Remir! Babylon has been very well received thus far, with 35 downloads just since it was put up yesterday, 5 of them in the first few hours alone. I am pleased with the fine results of all my hours of research and building, and it is good to see that so many others are pleased with it too.

I have to say I was really impressed with the city, I have always liked Babylon, I particularly liked the hanging gardens and necropolis. It looks as if you put a lot of effort into this, it would be a great city for any mod even if it was not portrayed as Babylon.
