This is a SP or MP Wyrm Racing game where 1 to 4 PCs can bet on the outcome of each race... Requires v1.67 (+SoU +HotU)
v1.11 - Multiplayer
1-4 PCs bet on one wyrm each. No PC who has bet can leave the area until all wyrms have finished and neither can a PC leave until (s)he has collected any winnings.
Added 'start area' to demonstrate this... Wyrm Racing now 'upstairs'.
Use as you see fit, but remember to credit the original work if you do use this in a module. I left this bare-boned on purpose - you can add more 'colour' with a crowd or sound effects, or what-ever.
If you download this, some feedback really would be appreciated, particularly on MP version (only tested with 2 players so far) - and a vote would be good...
I'll have a look at the weekend if I have some time hopefully. Just started to buy a house on short notice so don't know when I'll be free to try find a fix... Thanks for letting me know though I cannot think why it happened - did you try a second time?
I downloaded it, loaded up the mod, baught a marker, added it to a flag, the black one to be specific, and waited for the race to begin, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited,......
bloodsong: Finally got your comment about only one track per module - yeah, you are right and the 'problem' remains with v1.11. Might look at it for the 1.68 update...
If you do use this in a multiplayer environment, please give me feedback on how it goes - especially with more than 2 players at a time TIA
Still to do:
+ readme.txt, .erf version for simpler import, and documentation in the scripting.
+ if possible, make it so those that bet on the race can watch it as usual OR via a cut-scene (PC choice when you are given the BetMarker... SP only?)
+ update to v1.68 (when out of beta)
+ convert to NWN2 (when released) :)
- cleaned up scripts and added effects with help from "PENTAGRAMS & SUMMONING CIRCLES v1.45" by gaoneng (available on Vault...)
- rejigged Area and placeables
- further prevented cheating: hopefully PC now can't interfere with wyrms as they race.
Future Plans.
- add readme.txt, .erf version for simpler import, and documentation in the scripting.
- make prefab mutiplayer, with 4 PCs being able to bet the one race (one wyrm each...)
- if possible, make it so those that bet on the race can watch it as usual OR via a cut-scene (PC choice when you are given the BetMarker... SP only?)
First of all, thanks RivikofFire for your vote - a little encouragement in the form of feedback and votes has turned a 'throw-away' idea into a 'mission'...
Just posted another update, v1.02
- rejigged area so has same name, tag, resref (Race Track...)
- redesigned track so PC shouldn't be able to interfere with flyers by starting a conversation.
- fixed a script error so all wyrms finish race.
- removed a 'winter track' area that was buggy if used...
Future plans:
- continue to clean up scripts (that's how I spotted the wyrm finish error)
- further prevent cheating (like casting haste on *your* favorite - I'd like feedback on this one...)
- make it mutiplayer, with 4 PCs being able to bet the one race (one wyrm each...)
- if possible, make it so those that bet on the race can watch it as usual OR via a cut-scene (PC choice when you are given the BetMarker...). Given my experience in cut-scenes of zilch, nil, nadda, don't hold your breath on this one...

Coolness much! _________________________ Look at me. I'm special.
I'd be interested in using this on our PW if multiplayer was enabled. Changing the area tag and/or resref would be helpful, too. That would stop it from overwriting existing areas for those not aware of the problem.
I'll be keeping an eye out for updates.

Thanks bloodsong, for the feedback and the vote. I was going for the cute factor :)
Need to get my head around scripting for more than one PC, but yes mutiplayer is the next obvious step.
You can always set up a new area with track and surrounds as you want, though the horseshoe shape seems to work best, and just copy and paste everything that you can select in the toolset (except the carpet - that is decoration...) to the new area - then you can export that area instead.
I'll put up a screenshot of the winter track I first built...

heyas, mungo; very cute! :)
very neat and easy to import into an existing module (or remove, heaven forbid ;) ). needs work to function for multiplayer, obviously, and it's only set up to run on one race track in a module. which are a couple of features that would have given it more wide appeal and use.
