Title  Sitable and Moveable Placeables
Author  Shir'le E. Illios
Submitted / Updated  08-16-2002 / 11-22-2006
Category  Placeable Item
Expansions  Works on all versions
Format  Code Only
Type  Type - Furniture (Subtype - Other)
Includes  None
Description
This ERF-file contains a number of placeables that PCs can sit on. First there are the normal chairs, stools, benches, thrones, etc. When a PC uses one of these they will sit on it. Then there is an invisible placeable. This one can be used to sit on the geometry, just make certain that the placeable is placed on the ground or else the PC will face the wrong way.

And finally there are two moveable placeables. When used the PC is given the option to either sit on it or pick it up. When the PC picks it up an item is placed in their inventory. And when this item is dropped the item is put back on the ground. After this the PC can use it again.

To make the moveable placeables work be certain to put sei_drop.nss in the module's OnUnAcquireItem event (or merge the function with the script you already have there).

Any questions, remarks, suggestions, etc, email the writer of this script.

Thank you and enjoy your sitting.

Love -x-x-x-

Shir'le

Ben Hadd,

Before you freak-out on the script you placed
into OnUse, check if you have selected the
item to be usible. The OnUse's script will
not fire unless the item is usible.

If shall the item is usible, and the script
is placed in the OnUse; then there must be
an error in the script. Post your script
here, and we might be able to help you.

I still can't get any of the basic scripts to work. I put numerous sit scripts in the On Use script box....... but nothing seems to work. I know it's suppose to be really simple, still need help though. Please

As Carlo says, it is a very simple script, but the way its been applied is superb. They allow for flexibility and are customizable.

Great for what it does. Gives you multiple custom sittable placeables, plus moveable chairs. Finally, you can pull up a chair with your friends rather than spreading out awkwardly around a tavern!

The scripts are easily adaptable for other uses in your module and are well worth looking at for placeable interaction. They are well commented and very clean. I piggybacked on them for my death system, for example, to allow corpse movement. Thanks Shir'le!

Useful collection of sit scripts including a working invisible object seat and moveable chairs.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 12 that made this score of 9.17 then rounded to 9.

Just make a script with:

void main()
{
ActionSit(object oChair)
}

It should work...

Is there any way you can just have a script where you sit? Because I've seen hundreds and thousands of scripts on here with sitting related things, but never just plain sitting. I was wondering if there is a way to edit the script so all you have to do is sit. I can't script at all, so please help.

Your the best, you same so much time!!! it was about 1 week i try to make a scrip like that! thnx u verry much. and to answer the one who ask how to use it, juste import the erf file, then :example for a chair, click on it and go in propriety , make it usable and on script, when it said: ''onused'' just load the script, that all and it's work verry well and there's no virrus on it so if you're mod get corrupted, look elsewhere. that all, and thnx again:)

It sure looks good, but how do I put it in? It just followed a .erf file, and I have done in notepad. What can I do to make this script come in?

Neverwinter has not been out a year. You should ALWAYS have
a backup before importing new stuff. Sorry to hear that
though.

I think I love you. PC 'sittable' chairs will rock my mod!
It's a very small animation that makes a huge role-playing
difference. I appreciate all the work you've done to make
these items and I hope you'll get a chance to visit my mod
when it's finally out of Beta :)
thanks again!
