Description
LandGate is a teleportation portal system based on the Stargate system on from the movie and TV series. It allows the PC (and/or party) to travel to multiple destinations by selecting a different combination on a control panel, unlike the Stone of Recall which is usually tied to one waypoint.

Using a unique color coding system, the current version allows the PC to travel to a new LandGate only once they have visited it before or by aquiring a valid code, thus stopping PC's from guessing combinations. The portal now remains open for 20 seconds allowing additional party members to cross over if they also carry the corresponding code. Can be modified to allow all party members to use a portal once opened by someone who knows a valid code.

Hey guys, sorry it's been a while, I haven't played NWN or done any scripting for a long time, been playing Guild Wars!

It's pretty simple to create new gates.. just cut/copy the entire 'gate', then just rename the trigger with the color combination you want, and create a corresponding 'LandGateNoteXXX' in the custom items section.

I only really used CEP for the placeables, as I really couldnt find anything suitable looking in the standard items, but should be easily customisable. It was really the console and the portal I use anyway.

A few people have written to me over the years, and someone only just a couple of weeks ago, commenting on how great the script works and easy it is to use, so I'm not sure where you're getting stuck. I guess some scripting knowledge is a MUST if you're gonna tinker with this sort of stuff.

Dunno if the creator still even checks this, but a newer demo mod that doesn't use CEP, or uses CEP2 would be nice.

I place the light nodes, 1, 2, and 3. I place the gate in the middle of them, and I place the control panel. I put the script to activate the conversation on the control panel. I drew out a trigger to activate the light, but I don't know how to make the lights light up or how to make it at all. I want it to be GGG what do I name G? This is all very vague for an area builder.

Hmm... I don't quite get it. Probably because I'm not a scripter. I really want this script, but nothing is scripted at all, there are just some scripts and some conv. files and I don't know what they do. And I don't have the haks to run the module to see what to do with them, as they are outdated CEP haks. Could you maybe e-mail me a copy an updated module at [email protected]. Or maybe just put it on here with CEP 2.0 haks instead of 1... would be nice. Or maybe even just a tutorial on how it works in Notpad form.

Great stuff....used this as a waypoint system for my PW since there is a vast amount of walking (riding w/CEP2) to be done =)

I know you've worked it out now, but all one needs to do to make additional portals is copy/paste an exisiting one, rename the trigger in the ring to the new desired code, and create a matching LandGateNoteXXX in the Custom items section. Check in-script remarks for modifying the code if needed.

Just to clarify what i have done, dunno if you still answer these posts but i'll say anyway, i added the 3 light thingies, control panel and correct door from the custom placeables, added the land gate trigger with the right color code in caps, set the on off scripts, the lights are permanently on, and when i enter it asks if i want to learn the destination i say yes, but thats all that happens, i dont get the note and can't talk to the console.

Tried the Mod, it's spectacular, but you should add a full read me on how to install, still trying to work it out.

v1.01 - Fixed a minor error where PC clicks on the control panel before having learnt this destination. Caused incorrect conversation script to run. Fixed by enlarging trigger area to surround stone circle.
