Tired of the same old single bard song? And on top of that, bards in general are a pretty underpowered class as most will agree.
This is an attempt to add some variety to the bards song arsenal without the abuse factor like Lich's Lyrics.
Included in this package is 4 new bard scripted bard songs. Like Lich's Lyrics the bard songs are used via items, but unlike Lich's Lyrics they follow the same rules as the actual bard song.
A bard song is consumed each time one of my items is activated and you must have a bard song to use the items.
Only 1 bard song may be active at a time and the effects do not stack. So hence if you try and use one of my bard songs, then attempt to use the standard bard song, the effects will not take ahold.
The new songs last the same as the orginal bard song as well, plus longer if the player has the Lasting Inspiration or Lingering Song Feat. The songs cannot be used while silenced and have no effect on deafened players.
The 4 new bard songs have the following effects when used :
Lathander's Lyrics of Lights = Slowly heals the bard/party's hitpoints over time based on the bards perform skill.
Akadia's Accelandro = Increase the movement speed of bard/party based on the bard's perform skill.
Helm's Hymn of Faith = Bestows Greater Sanctuary on the party but not the bard.
Mystra's Musical Warding = Increases the parties damage resistance to fire/cold/acid/electrical based on the bard's perform skill.
These songs are easily customizable so you can change how powerful each song is based on the perform skill of the bard. Hence if you wanted the Healing Song to heal less points per perform skill, you can change it via the mr_bard_source script.
In addition to that, there is a prevention to the exploit of saving skill points. If turned on, the bard songs will also take into account the number of bard levels the bard has when determing the power of the song. So hence, a powerbuilder who takes 1 level of bard and dumps a ton of points into perform would get very little bonus from using my new songs.
Open the rar file and read the instructions for installion and customizing.
If you like my work or have suggestions for more songs, please post! I am hoping to do some more songs if the community has a use for these.
UPDATED 8/1/06 : Sorry its a bit late, but fixed the songs so they have the bard music and the floating notes when used.

All set up now, no problems. Again, very nice.
One suggestion... Add in the bard music sound effect when the songs are used. That way, other players can tell that they have a bard effect on them, and not simply a spell.

very nice! especially helm's hymn of faith promises some great use of strategy :)
My apologies. nw_i0_spell and nw_i0_plot got accidentally saved as custom scripts and hence, imported into the erf with the others. The ONLY standard script modified with this package is nw_s2_bardsong.

Great idea MadRabbit and it seems to work quite well without making the bard class into an unbalanced uber, while adding some much needed versatility!
One suggestion...I like the visual effects used but it still would look good to have the musical notes (as per the standard bard song) appear over the PC's head.

What have you changed in nw_i0_plot and nw_i0_spells?
I have other mods that have changed those scripts (one which totally changes nw_i0_spells) so I need to know where to find what you have changed so that I can copy that to my already custom files. Thanks!

Looks pretty cool. I actually wish the bard songs would hang around ala the Bard's Tale. I suppose that may get annoying to some folks. I actually despise in-game music. I would love for bards to be able to perform music. Hmmmm...
