This script is to be placed on the heartbeat of a placable object. When it fires, it will roll a die. If it hits an eight, Call Lightning will strike the PC. Great for stormy areas. This might interfere with conversations, so don't use it in an area with a lot of dialogue. If you want it to strike more or less frequently or on placables, NPCs, etc., you'll have to tweak the script.
(Glitch: I noticed that when the PC makes his/her saving throw, the lightning effect is not created. Don't know how to get around that.)
Well, that's not really too realistic. I mean, being struck by a lightning bolt won't do the same amount of damage every time, it could vary. I'm thinking of adding a modifier depending on what kind of armor the victim, I mean player is wearing. _________________________ Flogging will continue until morale improves!
Yes, saving can be a problem, but the area I used it in is fairly short and linear. Resting and dialogue are the biggest problems. If you're just worried about saving, perhaps you can try modifying the die roll to 1d20 to make the lightning appear less often? _________________________ Flogging will continue until morale improves!

I played Baldurs Gate (and all expansions) on a PC and was often struck by lightning, or else one of my party was...Anyway, it doesn't matter, I like it :-D
Caereena team is having a good think about the saving issue (since players are/will be epic levels) and if we resolve it we'll get back to you. Cheers!
The PC version of Baldur's Gate doesn't support that effect. Hmm. Anyway, I was thinking more of the Thunder Plains in Final Fantasy X than anything else. _________________________ Flogging will continue until morale improves!

Takes me back to the halcyon days of Baldurs Gate when you could be stuck by lightning during a storm. Nice work, and thanks!
Well then, it should be a simple matter of adjusting the countdown to fire on every number. :) _________________________ Flogging will continue until morale improves!

if used as is in the OnDisturbed event this script will only fire on the 8th time the object is disturbed due to the count for the heartbeat in the script.
Not at all. Just put the script on OnDisturbed or OnPerception, and that should do the trick. I haven't tried it, though. _________________________ Flogging will continue until morale improves!
Would it be difficult to alter this code so that is instead an onprecieved script or mayhaps ondisturbed? _________________________ I am 9fires.In Hell I burn in flames. So cold inside the fires heals the pain.

this is a great simple script that can be easily modified or added as-is to any placeable you wish to have protect an area. destroy the placeable and the script will stop. great concept. simple to implement. thank you for sharing.
