This is a small prefab/Demo module using the new OnPlayerChat event and the GetDescription and SetDescription commands to make books and sheets of parchment that the PC can write in-and rename while in-game.
There is also a placeable (named ~ "Printers desk") that alows the player to make a copy of any book that they have written, that copy can no longer be writen in.
I would like to thank the players of My PW server for the idea and insparation for this system.
This is the update erf (that is already included in the zip package) for those that downloaded the earlier version that did not transfer the description of the original writen book when it is copied in the printers desk.
erf with compleate system and a demo module demonstrating how it works.
(this version uploaded on the 28th has includes the content of the td_quill_fix.erf already)

You stole my idea ;-)
Very nice work, I also had the same idea, but no time to do it yet. _________________________ .:Untold Tales of Tolkien II::Website::Forum:.

I was intrigued by this system...It seems simple enough to use and could provide an interesting approach to providing information and allows more roleplay by the player on a module...:)
Yes, sence the items themselves are changed it is persistant over a server reset. The variables used for the "writing" process are a local variable set on the pc by the OnPlayerChat event, and that variable is removed from the pc with each use of the quill pen.
A note to anyone else who may have downloaded the package prior to my posting the fix erf. If you make a copy of the book you have written and it dosent have the correct description (text) then you will need to reither re-download the package or just the fix erf and import it to the demo mod.
The erf only contains the 2 fixed scripts for the copy desk, while the .zip file has the updated demo module and system erf in it.
YESS! JUST what I was looking for (if you check, I actually submitted an idea for this) At last, the scribe is a new job in the Neverwinter world, making a new way to make money.
Many thanks.
Ok I uploaded the fixed version of the package and a seperate erf with the two corected scripts in it for those that already downloaded this little demo
There is a bug in the printers desk that causes the copied book to not have the originals descritpion. I have figured out how to fix it and will post and updated file tomorrow along with an erf with the 2 corrected scripts.
