Are the evil minions firing down from their castle roof easy pickings for your sharp-shooting players?
Give them (and the players) the cover they deserve!
These scripts, when applied to the on-enter and on-exit events of generic triggers or used with the custom trigger included in the erf, will buff concealment%, AC (dodge), and Reflex save bonuses consistent with the PHB 3.0 rules for cover and concealment.
Leaving the trigger will remove the buffs to keep the minions (or those pesky players) from continuing in invincible mode.
The on-enter script will use values set locally on the trigger; if the generic trigger does not have the proper local variables set, the script defaults to one-quarter cover and concealment settings.
Updated! Includes a Demo module to demonstrate placement of the triggers on terrain and the use of local variables to reflect different conditions.
Contains a .erf file to be imported to your module. The erf contains 2 scripts and a premade generic cover trigger. Instructions on use are in the commented scripts and the trigger.
Includes a Demo module to demonstrate placement of the triggers and the use of local variables to reflect different conditions.
I use a level 10 as my default character for testing modules, so I absent-mindedly scaled the archers in the demo to that level.
If you try dashing through this with a low-level character, you will probably get cut down crossing open ground, but the benefits of cover and concealment will work incredibly well while you are behind the walls or under the trees, demonstrating how useful the scripts can be in the correct circumstances. _________________________ All good people are asleep and dreaming...

I've been rolling this idea around in my head for a while now. Glad someone got around to making it.
I'm a little disappointed to see that there is still some potential for exploitation of the cover in unintentional ways. Even so, you were clear in pointing out these possibilities in your demo (which I highly recommend to interested viewers), and you even suggested how builders can plan for this.
Overall, the implementation looks flexible and solid. Don't think I could have done better, myself. _________________________ "The novice thinks he's close to mastery each time he learns something new. But until the day he stops thinking so, he's still a novice."
