Updated: Added hide bonus and fixed spelling of Garrote. :) Garrote: Is a rogue Item, basically a strangle cord. We use many custom items for certain classes in AnchorDeep, this is just an example of one. (Based loosely on dnd choke hold.) The caller makes a attack role. If successfull choking starts, Target may make escape attempt with a reflex save. If the Target fails fails to break free they are rendered unconscious for 1d3 rounds. The file below contains 2 scripts the main RogueItems file and the code required for OnActivateItem. You will need to create an item called whatever you wish, with the TAG ROGUE_GARROTE. Or use the included erf.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 16 that made this score of 9.74 then rounded to 10.

You could simply have the dexterity roll to see if the attack succeeds, then use a strength roll to determine how hard the rope was tugged. If tugged hard enough (say, a critical at 18-20 on a d20), it could nearly kill the person. Just a thought (and I'm sure that this method is away from the rulebook, but many DM's go outside the standard rules to make some things more logical. :P )

ah Garrote ok I'll make that change. Yes I went back and forth between the dex to str modifier in the end though I went with str. I felt if I used Dex modifier it would make the item to strong and work to well, it would be to hard to save against, but I will add that hide bonus.

I had someone script me a garrote, but used the dex modifier, since rogues will more likely have a higher dex AND a garrot is a rope, which would require some dexterity to get around the victim's neck.
Mine isn't tailored towards rogues, but rogues do have the advantage using them with their innate abilities (such as a high dex and sneak ability).
Also, the script I have gives a bonus based on if the attacker is being perceived or not, so I get a bonus if I sneak up on my victim undetected (so it works for other stealthy chars, like rangers). Might want to think about adding those things.

Well spell checking aside, I think it looks like a neat idea!
A garret is a room on the top floor of a house - like an attic, btw. ;)
You want "garrote", as Sly says.
