Hello all. Some of my funnest times gaming online was in a MUD called Faerun (later changed to Rauvyon). This coach system for NWN is a similar system. I hope it is of use to some. This system is pretty simple: A PC buys a ticket, say, from Boareskyr Bridge to Waterdeep. Using this ticket, the PC can target a coach as it sits at a stop, or anywhere along its route. If the ticket is valid(the right ticket for this coach route) the player is jumped to an area that is the inside of the coach. The ticket is used up. The player can sit in the coach as long as they want, and travel the route. The coach driver will call out places as he passes them, and coach stops. At ANY TIME, whether at a called out place, a coach stop, or in the middle of nowhere (along the route), the player can exit the coach. Provided they have another valid ticket, they could conceivably run after the coach, and if they get close enough, leap back aboard. Have fun all, John

Heh, oops. My formating lost something on that last post. The message was something like You clicked on the window placeable, and were sent a message that said something like "You're passing through AREA. Outside it's WEATHER. From the coach, you can see PC1, PC2, etc. You also see PLACEABLES, NPCs, etc."

Basically, along the route, the builder would tag any placeables they wanted to show up from a window with a local variable. The script checked a certain radius from the coach, I think.
There was more I wanted to do, such as actually clone the PC in place and jump them, cutscene invis, to the outside location of the coach briefly. But that seemed like it might be too jarring, and could have long loading times for a peek out a window. ;)
Don't know if I still have my partial system anymore. Hmm, maybe I'll scout around a bit when I get the chance.

I also made a "Coach Schedule" sign placeable that when used allows the player to read where the coach currently is traveling.

just make a placeable (i used a sign)
1) make it PLOT,USEABLE
2) on the OnUse event place the following script.

I already modified your Base mod to incorporate the new tileset as well as 'random barkstring triggers', 'random 'shake screen' vfx if your interested I can send you the modified mod (I used it so I can re-create an erf to import into my own PW)

Using this system for a few weeks now and have to say its pretty slick!
also JFK, I re-released a revamped version of that tileset. much better now with your system!

Hey, if anyone checks this out, Lord of Worms is working on a nice coach interior tilest (already released a preliminary proof of concept) that looks great! When that excellent tileset is available, it's highly recommended for use with this system. I know I will be using it.

Adding a window is rather simple....

just put a placeable being the window inside the coach and add this script to its OnUsed event:

replace "COACH2" with the tag of the coach the window is in.

by the way i ran into some nastyproblem using this coach system:

my coaches drive around like mad for some time after starting the module... if they do not hang somewhere upon this "mad driving" period the return to the route and everything is fine from then on..

does anybody has an idea what causes this problem and is there a fix for it?

Thanks for the fast reply. I posted that yesterday so your very quick. Thanks for the mod, everything seems to be working. Didn't you say that you were going to do a window to the coach? If so I would love to add that as well if you still have the time to make it. If not, thanks anyhow for the coach, it will be a great addition.

Sorry about that. I will update this with a few small changes, including putting the coach in the palette. I should have pointed out that there is no actual model of a coach. For demonstrating the system, I have used the animated table model.
