Excellent script Talmud. The letters look really cool. I used it in my module.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 17 that made this score of 9.77 then rounded to 10.

Ahh.. At a guess you are probably using the DM client.
Unfortunately, for now you have to appear in order for the
wand to work.. Not sure if this will change in the future.

I used the .erf but I did put the shp_activate script in.
It won't respond when I press "Make these words appear."

Are you using the included module or the .erf? If you
imported the .erf into an existing module you need to put
the shp_activate script into the module's OnItemActivate
event.
Just drag the wand into a quickslot and use it on a spot
in your vicinity. Choose the first (the only )
conversation option. Then speak the words you wish to
appear. (Whispering is probably a bad idea..) Then
choose "Make these words appear."

I don't get it. How do I use the wand?
I can't get it to work

wow, that's your first script ? impressive. i will extract
some of the mathematical stuff if you don't mind ;)
make this more configurable and we have a burner here !
geometrical functions could get handy in many situation..
think of tactical formations for mobiles :you assign some
creatures to a leader and they arrange around him in a
given formation and keep it while moving...
and i bet tons of more ideas could be born out of this..

Girruuth,
Thanks for the advice. Could you be more specific, though?
I'm not sure what you mean.
If you are talking about the declarations of the
functions, this was both the easiest way I knew to call on
them and the only way to get them to display the comments
in the help window at the bottom of the script window. If
you meant something else, let me know.

One improvement you could make to help reduce file size is
to remove the function prototypes from the include file
(shp_include for instance), they are superfluous.

Thanks guys, Im glad that somebody likes it. You can
mostly thank my wife (Vermeer fan / Girl reading a letter)
for the Oracle Cave, since it was here idea and she
implemented most of it. It took me a long time to do the
basic scripting behind this, but mostly because this is the
first script or program of any kind that I have written. I
have plans to expand the usefulness and functionality of
the "Shaper" wand - so if anybody is interested in such a
thing, I will post it here soon. Some of the additional
functionality I am planning is to allow the placement of
groups of objects/creatures in different formations by
simply typing in the name of the object you wish to have
appear; also letting you decide which direction the letters
are readable from. If anybody has any suggestions for how
to tighten up my code or has a less processor intensive
approach to such things, feel free to email me or post
comments here.

Shite!
That is some EXCELLENT work! Wow!
Posted by Mystic_Nexus ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-08-22 00:19:00
That is some of the coolest scripting I have seen. I can
see this as a last battle conversation... Imagine a being
like Asmodeus telling you it is now time to die, with words
of fire in the air !
Thank you Talmud :-)
