I think the tune works. Kind of reminds me of Final Fantasy (at least, the old ones).
However, I think it'd really benefit from possibly some strings underneath to support it, as well as maybe a flute? Some little flourishes here and there would really make this sound great.
Also, any parts added should really focus on offsetting the rhythms of the melody (so perhaps just playing double speed ostinatos or somesuch, but I'd be against anything with 3rds or something equally out-there).
Another thing - I think the brass section is too loud. Considering the sound of the brass itself is a little iffy (but of course, we have to work with what we've got!) i'd turn it down, hide it a little with some the accompaniment. :)
But yeah, I like it - but it doesn't sound complete.
