Hey everybody!
With a great help by ChWebb (thanks a lot Christopher!!) I remixed the song and this will be the ultimate version of it. Now the deep tones are much more powerful and melody and counter-melody compete on the same level. :) Enjoy!

Avast, matey. This song be enjoyable by pirates and landlubbers alike. Yer PCs don't have to be in the high seas to get into the spirit of adventure with this music. Arrrr. _________________________ Yay, I have a blog. Faithless: The Making of an NWN2 Module

This sounded great to me. Thank you.

The remix is much improved over the original posting. Rough Seas is evocative of either a gathering storm, or a battle at sea, and it would serve well for either purpose.

I'll gladly listen to it - I sent an email with my contact info.
Alright, good to hear you like it. :) I'm working on the song right now, adjusting not just the mix but some other stuff. Would you mind if I sent you the adjusted version via email before uploading it to the vault? Just to be sure that I'm not uploading something that sounds bad, too.

I gave it a listen @ home, with speakers. The mix still is top heavy - the lower pitched instruments could stand to be a bit louder, but it's not as bad as my headphones @ work made it sound. The more I listen to it, the more I like it.
Hi ChWebb!
Thanks a lot for the comments and rating!! Unfortunately, I don't have real monitors for professional recording, so I still listen to my songs on a hifi-system when working on them. It's a bad thing, because you don't get a feel of the volume each instrument will have on other people's stereos, computers etc. It'll probably take some time until I've got enough money to buy a couple of monitors, so it's good to know from other people how the song sounds to them on their systems.
I was worried about the speed - it actually felt a bit fast to me too, but I wasn't sure about it. :P There are some other problems I have with cubase, the program on which I'm recording my songs, but I'm trying to figure them out and to record everything exactly as I want to. :)
Cheers,

Let me listen to it again at home with a better sound setup to see if my comment (1) still applies. It may be that my headset/sound card on my workstation is not as good as I thought.

Fair enough :-) I'm #84, and here's some comments:
Overall: I like the melody/melodies. It *almost* has a grand feel to it. Two things that would get my rating higher than it is:
1) I'd like to hear more of the harmonies and lower-pitched strings. The mix sounds to me like the melodic strings (higher pitched strings) are substantially louder, so I can barely hear the "cellos"/lower pitched instruments. More lower pitched strings will give it a grander, warmer feel.
2) Slow it down some. It sounds rushed - especially in the section from 0:46 - 1:14. I don't have a good suggestion yet for just how much slower. With the tempo slowed down a bit, and the lower strings mixed up a little louder, I think this would have a grand feel to it. And it'd be perfect for one of my at-sea cutscenes :-)
I forgot to say that it's converted to mp3, of course. Any comments? I think I'll re-record it with nice synths sooner than I had hoped for, so I'd just like to know what you think about the melodies. _________________________ I'm a prof. composer/sound designer. Link to my myspace
