This is a short, peaceful instrumental piece, supposedly an elvish song. It wasn't made specifically for NWN, but maybe you can give it a home in some tavern or forest area.

Ah shucks, I was wrong about the time sig! hehe, ah well.
Moving on is about the best thing you can do. I hardly ever go back and change my music, so I know how you feel there. The only thing I really change is the sound quality, since thats always an easy change and takes no more than a few minutes.
I hope to see more of your work! _________________________ Snafe Composed: What is a game without music? Neverending Nights - A NWN Machinima
@peej0000
The time signature is indeed a switch between standard 4/4 (verse) and 5/8 (the wannabe "chorus"), or at least that's the intent (we guitar folks aren't too much into music theory ^_~).
I agree with the dynamics, I wanted to have a kind of real-sounding band with a consistent sound, but it might be too consistent. There is in fact an attempted silence before the last extended chorus to try to liven up things, but I could not make it sound exactly like I wanted.
@Snafe
Listening to the song I sometimes wish there were real vocals instead of the flute to lessen the repetitiveness, but then that would mean finding a singer and writing lyrics and a whole bunch of trouble. ^_^' Plus the song is supposed to be complete as it is (I mean, this is such a relief to brand a song 'final', I don't want to go back). Thanks for the advice on the strings though!

Thanks as usual, mister metalhead going dwarvy!

I love the ending! How it sort of dies away slowly, but then the flute comes in for one last little jaunt... very clever writing.
I agree with Peej, needs more dynamic contrast. But I don't think its 4/4 and 5/8, it's either 3/4 and 2/4 or just straight 5/4 (please enlighten us).
My only complaint is the repetitiveness... I know it is sort of supposed to have verses, but I think a nice string section coming in around 2/3 of the way through the piece to kind of accompany and support would be very touching and moving. But this is merely a suggestion and isn't going to change my rating.
Keep composing! It's great to see new composers posting their works here on the vault! _________________________ Snafe Composed: What is a game without music? Neverending Nights - A NWN Machinima

I really like this piece! Sounds very traditional with just a hint of modern harmony, guitar/bass sounds, and rhythyms to make it more interesting. I especially like the switch between what sounds like 4/4 and 5/8 to me. There is not much dynamic change but I think that can be a good thing for music that is intended for use in a game. Keep up the good work! _________________________ Ninja School -- a short NWN training and adventure module for young players. Missing Persons -- a short single-player NWN adventure for levels 4-5.
