When writing this piece, I had a great Dwarven Hall in mind. I guess thats where the name "Hammer and Steel" came from.
I spent a few hours experimenting with strange key changes (chromatic mediants), my brass section and block chords. This composition is what I came up with.

Totally professional work, we will be using your work on our upcoming expansion to ROT. It fits very well and is tremendous! Keep them coming! _________________________ Brian S. Bloom

Something a bit different. Nice submission. _________________________ Works of B G P Hughes: Link
I guess I was inspired by the Anvil of Crom from Conan the Barbarian... Hammer and Steel is exactly what it sounds like, and I tried using as much metal as possible. Perhaps if I do arrange it for band (which has crossed my mind) I will use a little more use of drums and less metals...
Band banquets in general can be a little disconcerting, haha... _________________________ Snafe Composed: What is a game without music? Neverending Nights - A NWN Machinima

Love it, Snafe! I guess I have never thought about it before but my standard for giving a 10 in the music category is basically that it is as good or better than the music released with the OCs and expansions - both compositionally and in terms of sound quality. Perhaps you have pieces you like more but I think this piece is great and also very usable in-game. Only one personal opinion comment - I would prefer less rapid high-pitched metalic percussion throughout the piece - maybe save for select spots or substitute drums for some of it - just my take on it. It reminded me of going to the UW Marching Band banquets and hearing the percussionists play their street beats with their silverware on the plates and glasses - cool but a little disconcerting.
That said, maybe you can adapt this one for band as you said is being done with Quest! _________________________ Ninja School -- a short NWN training and adventure module for young players. Missing Persons -- a short single-player NWN adventure for levels 4-5. My music submissions
