Not satisfied with the color and texture choices BioWare initially made, I've put my spin on it.
Presented here are two versions. Simply extract either tga into the override folder and enjoy.
As of 2005/07/20 I've reworked this to give the textures more depth and tone variety. Thus, I've posted it as a separate HAK (Redux 2), so that others may choose whichever version they prefer.
1. Redux (w_metal_tex.rar):
- Everything except for the 'chain links' and 'black' metal have been modified and/or replaced.
- Metals give off a hi-polished (or brushed) glint.
- New leather bindings for weapons (whip looks better).
- Gold less gaudy than before. Wood textures changed.
2. Redux 2 (Redux2_w_metal_tex.rar):
- Texture/tone variation applied to all metals, including chain links.
- New wood textures.
- Leather bindings modified.
- Only 'black' metal has not been changed (much).

Great work Sab'bryn.
For those that DL this, run this little test on your self. Install the alt. textures and play with them for a month or two, then load up the game -without- them and look at the diffrance. You forget how stark the originals are in comparison.

My i-net was down for a while, so a quick response...
Wolfus: For an invisible object, you don't need a texture; what (I think) you need is a dummy model that can be selected for the slot (ex. part 5) that does not render in the game - much like the 'null human'.

Can you help me make an extra custom texture for bladed type weapons and possibly hammers?
All I'm after is an invisible blade texture (e.g. blade part colour 5)
so by using a visual effect it shows up.
(Like a lightning blade, a lightning visual effect, added to the invisible textured blade)
The reason I'm only after an extra (invisible) texture, is so I don't crash the toolset/game with an unuseable weapon's blade.
I don't mind using the default part portraits unless an alternate is needed.

Requesting assistance with blade textures,
Do you know a way of adding an extra (invisible) texture to the weapons blade colour choices for swords, axes, etc.
(obviously not for flails and such, maybe hammers)
As I want to add a visual effect to a weapon to make the blade seem to appear, otherwise it's equipped and looks like a sword handle with no blade.. (I know it would still be treated as a standard blade, but I don't want to crash the game by having an unusable weapon just an invisible blade)
