The default Bioware skies somewhat disappionted me with their grainy look, so I wanted to make something that offered a bit higher detail, especially since the game is aging and most gfx cards should be able to handle more texture.
This does require more of the gfx cards, so only recommended for people with 128 mb vram. However, the actual performance/quality ratio is much higher than Bioware's because of less waste texture and better optimization.

Version 1.1 now also included an override for the Grass, Stormy skybox.
is there a version, or a way to make it compatible with NWN SoU+HotU 1.69 camera mod? Becouse I see a big, grey circle when I look straight up into the sky...

Not only are the skies that this set adds beautiful work, but they are made so well that they do not seem to lower the game's FPS, which is a rare treat when it comes to skyboxes. I can find nothing wrong with this set; it works ideal with my Nvidia GeForce 8600, and is something useful, besides being artistic. It being flawless, I give it a vote of 10.00! :)
Definately accomplishes something good. :) Love this. So sweet, yet simple. _________________________ "Just because I'm a paladin, that doesn't mean I have to be a prude, dear. The Lady Love would never tolerate that in her servants."

These are beautiful. So much better than the default skies.

Yes, I believe Zarathustra217 is right about the 4000 as opposed to 4200. I've not gotten white-outs with regular high res skyboxes, in fact I have a hak pak with an excellent collection of them, so I think as I said I'll stick with them and the Bioware skies. Thanks for clarifying the issue Zarathustra217, by the way, that was very helpful to know!
To Skyboxer:
The Geforce MX 4000 you own must then regrettably not be able to display non-quadratic textures. I know the Geforce 4200 is capable of it, so you're probably just below the requirements. All I can say, I'm afriad :-/
To Sabbryn:
Thanks, I intentionally didn't use DDS compression since I wasn't too satisfied with the quality. The Sky Box is rendered without lighting or shading, and makes details stand out very clearly. Since I figured that people using this would be able to effort the extra vram (NWN with CEP tops at not much more than 80 would be my guess, so a 5 MB wouldn't matter much). There's some of disagreement in the industry though wether to use high res DDS or lower res uncompressed for high spec. That I chose the latter solution doesn't necesarily mean it's right for all. I'll consider uploading a DDS version package for those who are having performance issues. _________________________ Lead scripter, artist and designer -~ Ravenloft - Prisoners of the Mist ~- Souls' prison, roleplayers' haven... www.NwNRavenloft.com

Very nice model optimization, both in the areas of geometry and polycount. For those wondering, BW's is an inverted 128 poly box; this is a 64 poly conical ring.
No problem in video, but then I do have a 256MB card.
I'd suggest providing DDS versions, as it reduces each texture map by 1/4. 1,366KB DDS -vs- 6,135KB TGA; I already tested and verified.
Though uncertain, the DDS approach may be a viable solution for Skyboxer's problem (assuming that this is the only anomoly he has noticed and has in the past been able to play at hi-res without 'white-out').

Hmmm... I have an Nvidia GeForce 4000 128 mb video card, and I selected the regular grassland (not stormy) sky for an area, but instead of sky all I saw was white. Perhaps there might be a bit more to the requirements than just that the card be 128 mb? In any case, it was a good try but I thnk I'll be sticking to the Bioware skies after all.
