Description
Dasaria II is a human-centric, medium-magic roleplay and story-driven persistent world set in a unique, wholly-original Dungeons and Dragons milieu. Dasaria is a collaborative gameworld adapted from a long-running pen-and-paper campaign, driven from the creativity of our Storyline DMs and players alike. Dasaria is also a story, in which players have had a hand in writing the chapters FOR MORE THAN A DECADE!
Dasaria 2 is fully autodownloader-enabled, and players can simply join our server to get in on the action. Players can locate our game world under GameSpys Roleplay category or direct-connect to dasaria.dyndns-server.com
Dasaria is aimed at mature players of all ages. We expect our players to act as stewards of the gameworld and their fellow players, especially if their characters are in opposition.
We provide an environment where roleplay and in-character realism are encouraged. There is however, plenty of action to be had.
Dasaria is a medium-magic world, in which plain steel in capable hands can still shape the destiny of an Empire.
We are a full PvP server for roleplay and realism opportunities. The ONLY excuse for PvP is a legitimate roleplayed conflict.
Dasaria uses the Hardcore difficulty setting; Monsters do full damage and careless actions can harm your allies. Combat can be difficult for some characters and many dungeons are not intended to be soloed.
Dasaria has an experience cap of 191,500. As such, ECL races cannot reach level 20.
There is an experience and gold loss penalty for utilizing the respawner. There is no level loss or negative experience, except at level 20.
You do not need any of NWN2's expansions to play on Dasaria. We support all client versions of the game simultaneously
The Administrators of Dasaria take a very dim view towards ill-behaved persons (cheaters, griefers, player or NPC-killers, out-of-character pickpockets, rapists, etc)
You begin your journey at level one with no gold or possessions, only your wits, and limitless adventure before you
Dasaria includes persistent player housing with the ability to purchase furniture and items which which to decorate your own home.
Dasaria features a custom faction and renown system and overland map battlefield areas through which high-level characters can directly influence the course of the war through a 'game-within-the-game' that also provides non-epic progression opportunities even after PCs have reached level 20.
Our campaign begins fifty years after the good guys lost. Characters begin their journey in the bustling port city of Cear, on the far reaches of the lands now occupied by the powerful and oppressive Varanite Empire. Most of the vestiges of the Old Kingdom are all but forgotten now -- or driven underground. But all is not well in this Empire of Red and Gold. While the land's new masters grew complacent, a long-forgotten threat was stirring in the darkness, plotting its revenge. Now its fury is released on the lands, caring not for political or religious ideals.
With an entirely original milieu, independent of thoroughly-explored properties such as Forgotten Realms, players have an unprecedented opportunity to participate in shaping the world and the campaign in Dasaria. The Dasaria DM team has always been a strong advocate of the player and his/her ability to influence the world, letting the characters themselves shape their destinies within the framework of the campaign, and this is echoed in the work of the world's builders. The development team too has always encouraged and fostered the creative ability of its players, creating content to appropriately react to developments in the game world, and in working with and integrating player-submitted-content.

The Dasaria 2 team is extremely proud / humbled / pleased to announce on the 10th Anniversary of Dasaria I, on the 5th anniversary of Dasaria II, the driving of the golden spike for Dasaria II, the last hammerblow struck by one of the greatest, long-time creators and protectors of the place we love best.
Daris has been rebirthed into this world, and the Dasaria II module now forms a continuous loop from Cear, to Morell, to Daris, to Lendose, to Ravenswatch, and back to Cear.
Ten years ago, Dasaria for Neverwinter Nights was born. In celebration of our ten year anniversary, we invite you to return to where it all started, the coastal village of Daris.
A once thriving village, Daris now lies a desolated ruin on the edge of Vokk territory. Who knows what secrets it may still hold? Or what lessons it might yet teach? As the Lorekeepers say, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".
Unleash the adventurers!

This is a great RP server which allows a great deal of freedom and flexibility. The fact that it is a level 20 cap brings a good degree of realism to the server as it brings the overall experience back to a more realistic level instead of having hordes of epic level characters running around.
The detail of various quests and the NPC inhabitants of the server are rich and varied, it is evident that a huge amount of time has been dedicated to the filling out of the finer details which helps bring the server alive.
Despite being an RP server I like the fact that RP is not enforced, of course it is encouraged but it is very rare that action is taken against persistent non-RPers unless they are proving disruptive to other players. I'm sure some RP elitists may view this as a negative but the way I see it is as a good representation of the general welcoming and tolerant community which resides here.
Overall it's well worth trying out!

As a fellow NWN2 PW Creator, I implore you to check out Dasaria II. It is very well built and has extremely dedicated and skilled DMs and contnet creators. I have recently interviewed Dasaria II for Episode 132 of the NWN Podcast where you will be able to hear for yourself, the high calibur of game creators that you have at Dasaria II. The podcast will be posted in several weeks. _________________________ Brian S. Bloom

Awesome place. It has elements for both those that like to RP, and those that enjoy action. It is a place where a player can make a different in the log term story arc.
There are several quests for new characters that let you explore and gain XP with out ever having to use a weapon. Many quests are quite fun and funny, with more options that 'I will save the princess!'
The faction system is very enjoyable and leads to interesting RP with other players from opposing organizations.
DMs and other staff are attentive, forums active and engaging.
I tried several PW's when the game first came out, and unfortunately did not find Das II until '09, but I am glad I did. I highly recommend the server.

Dasaria is simply incredible. The campaign setting is both immersive and all encompassing. Their pantheon is detailed, their factions have literally molded the world and each player has the opportunity to leave an actual mark on the world. Simply stunning.

Hmm, I take back part of my previous vote. There is noticeable improvement in the module after the 'newbie' quests drop off; more variety of quests, items, locations...
Playerbase is pretty strong, too.

Great PW, has a good number of players who are always eager to RP without forcing it on anyone either. The world has a lot of character and charm to it where an observant player will notice quite a lot of little quirks that gives the place so much personality.
It can be very very rough for newbies though as it's easy to get overwhelmed with the sheer scale of the game world, plus encounters are designed with groups in mind even from the very beginning. Don't be surprised if you get completely mauled your first time out in the wild, the mobs here mean business!

This is among the best PW out there, if not the best. It is completely original without the crutch of forgotten realms lore, has a fantastic staff, an amazing player community, top notch forum, a great story, and loads of fun for everyone. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out.

It's a little rough here and there in terms of difficulty of quests (depending on your party makeup), but the people and the overall effort put into the mod makes it one of the best PW's out there.

Played here for 6+ years. Best DM's and Player community available imo. Thanks for the years of fun Dasaria.

The best server on NWN1, and continued to be the best on NWN2. It is easy to get absorbed in the intricate plot of Dasaria for hours on end, and feel that it was time well spent. The casual environment means that after a long day you can go and bash monsters without penalty. However roleplaying is found just about everywhere you go, even though it is not strictly enforced, as the great roleplaying is what makes Dasaria what it is. With the update to the autodownloader, it is extremely simple to get in game. Dasaria is one of the few servers that allows all expansions to play together, and the builders have put a lot of effort into making Dasaria the best place for all players of NWN2.

Dasaria is my #1 gamer choice. It's the only game that can pull me back in after long hiatuses of real life...And with years of experiencing this amazing platform of entertainment, that is a testament to its longevity! Over the years, I have recommended it to several friends, and they always have great things to say about how Dasaria has impacted them. There is definitely a one-of-a-kind form of immersion in this world because its progression involves the plots and ideas of the administrators and players, allowing for creative liberties from every individual of the gamer base. It's not just a game you play, but a story you tell. The contents of this server's gameplay is full conquests and feats of glory for skilled gamers and determined groups, or parties. Dasaria 2 continues to be a compelling source of entertainment for veterans and newbies alike.

I forgot to add that the difficulty of server is too high and does not encourage anyone to get started without having some help from an other player.Going on solo is not something bad or else write that its only party server. _________________________ The death is just the beggining not the end of life. A good server witch is very low on RP with ^closed^ only events and people are not encouraged to RP cause of grinding. DMs try for the best and i must admit that they are in all time. Give people a good reason to RP or make it just an other grinding server. _________________________ The death is just the beggining not the end of life. (Malicius Necromancer)

I recently started playing here after a very long break and the server has made some great improvements and changes in that time. Here's my thoughts so far:
Pros:
-High quality areas
-Diverse and entertaining content for all level ranges.
-Excellent quest lines.
-Good item selection which uses NWN2 items and a host of custom items (some of which are very creative).
-A pretty active forum for IC and OOC purposes; the staff are quite active on these which is nice.
Cons:
-RP can be very limited. Specifically, if your PC isn't a member of a faction, group or relevant to a current event or going-on, you'll probably feel a little 'left out'. My advice is to get involved with a faction or other group, whether you start it or join an existing one. This will help get you involved with other PCs and help you feel more relevant to the server.
-'Closed' events. I don't believe this is a conscious thing on the part of the staff, but events seem to only concern the most important PCs or are part of long-running quest lines which in turn only concern certain PCs. It's not a level thing though I believe. Having been a DM for many months on an unrelated server, I do sympathise with the Das crew though and I don't believe for a second they're out to neglect people.
Ideas for improvement:
-More DMs with more focused roles. For example, DMs who are there to provide events for low level groups or provide 'spice' (meaning non-planned events). Anyone that has been with the server consistently, has behaved themselves and shows leadership could be safely given a chance at DM'ing. If they don't work out, no harm done.
-More events in general. The current staff and DMs work very hard, but they've placed unnecessary pressure on themselves by limiting their numbers I think.
-Distribution of RP XP, to make roleplaying more appealing and nudge people away from grinding slightly. This could include rewards for forum stuff, such as IC stories or posts which are of a good quality. Encouraging good RP is a must for a PW.
All in all, a server I highly recommend. 9.25/10.

Dasaria has been my home since I became involved in NWN PWs. I've played since launch of Das2, and while in the early days I wouldn't have rated this high, the present server is excellent. The community is excellent, and the world has a compelling and complex history that draws you in, a unique pantheon, and a wonderfully designed zones that feel more natural and expansive. Further, the DMs are responsive, and you can actually make your mark on the gameworld if you try to (I know I have).

Outstanding. Definately worth playing.
It took me a few days before I got comfortable with the server, the starting city is massive and took a while to get figured out. Besides the the world is wonderfully fleshed out and you can find some amazing role players playing on this server.
If you're looking for a roleplay heavy server. Look no further.
Just a quick comment that I recently removed the old PWCs to avoid any user confusion. As this will effect the number of downloads displayed for the gameworld, the number of downloads from the vault (it's posted a few other places, but most downloads will have been from here) was 9520 at the time of the update. :) Thanks!

Well I'm newish in the scheme of things, but having come from that other game... Neverwinter something, I have to say that Dasaria has caused me to think differently about NNW2. This makes me feel like real PnP D&D, plus the original milieu, with ability to actually affect it, is something unique. If you're into PvP, or "hardcore" roleplay, or sex, there's other places that will suit you better, but if you're looking to augment your weekly D&D game, or you're sick of being railroaded into Forgotten Realms shlock, this is a good place to try things out.
Posted by Evelond Formos at 2009-02-20 22:25:33 Voted 7.25
My negative points mentioned earlier no longer apply. Conversation skills -are- used in quite a few quests. Though PWC releases are still stretched out, new quests seem to be regularly added.
Dasaria is still open to all users (Vanilla, MotB, and SoZ), and MotB spells and classes are now open for use.
There are several active DMs that run events frequently, and the campaign is constantly moving on both a small and large scale.
All in all, anything I might not have liked about this server a year and a half ago has been fixed--praise the Dasarian gods, this PW is perfect.

I started playing D&D back in 1968 while stationed in Vietnam. A few years later in 1973, I started playing Dasaria on Arpanet. Anyone remember 00100110 the Barbarian? That was me. Dasaria has come a long way since those humble beginnings. It's now recognized as the greatest game in the last 30 years, besides Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong was awesome. "
