Rules and Regulations:
1. First off Highland Saga is a RP and Hack and Slash. It has been designed to seporate the 2 while being able to have them co-exist without too much interfearance.
2. You may only pick pocket 5 times successfuly, if you only get gold thats counted as a success. If you break this rule, you will be punished 1 level and 5 items of a DM's choice.
3. PK is not limited, but its very much frowned apon if done out of storyline, if you have no reason but being a jerk to someone for doing it, you will be repremanded by being reduced to their level. If you are the same level and do it consistantly, you will be droped 5 levels each time after a warning.
4. Be curtious to other players, we are all playing here together, lets be nice so we can tolerate each other.
5. DMs have the last say. I'm sure you all knew this but it needs to be in here. DMs reserve the right to act however they want. They are in charge, if one causes too much trouble, the server admin will take care of things. Please notify another DM if your having troubles with a DM team member. Whether you hear back about it or not, it will be at least discused.
6. Highland Saga is a PG-13 server. No "adult themed" RP is allowed. You know what I am referring to...
7. Have fun. Its a freeking game, lighten up.

Here-in follows the final account of the Night Tide...
There were times when the sun touched this fair land. The Races of the Sun prospered and no attention was paid to [the crevice]. A canyon that split our lands and spawned the cursed Dark Ones. As the desert grew around this fissure, still minds were not piqued. When the darkness began to linger over the great desert, concerns were brought forth from the night raids of the Dark Ones. Many Explorers came to solve the mystery of the depths. By this time it was too late.
The great war is over. The darkness spread until it touched all the great cities of the land; and one by one, they fell... Kingdoms were shattered and the power grew. Night engulfed every great land until all were consumed. It seemed it would continue until even The Great City fell. As the night approached, all races gathered for the comming wave. Every man steeled himself to the final victory. Dwarven warriors brandished the weapons of old and every Able Elf came to the aid of Man. All the peoples of the sun prepared to decide the fate of our world. When black licked the defenses of our world they came. Waves upon waves, breaking against the forces of light. We battled for time imortal. The darkenedf field deceptive in time denied us the hope of day or even the rest of night. And so we fought. Blood of man joined that of all as the Dark Ones relentless assault continued. All was done none were spared.... The prophecy of elves was fullfilled.
Apocalypse came... and we lost.
The Dwarves routed shut themselves under Aya-Shatur. Men followed and were hunted to the foot of that fair ediface of the north. Here they were spared by the glint of the suns renewed power. The elves, my people, were hunted down from the Golden waters to the eastern seas of Minuial-lhun. The few that survived have been scattered never allowed to settle; Continuously hunted.
I write this to tell of the current events that have been recorded around the realm. The darkness is spreading again... Why it stopped or why it returned its slow trickle, noone knows. The remnants of the peoples are in danger. Some how the darkness must be stopped. The Dwarves must be wakened, Men again rallied. I sense the gods reawakening from long slumber. We must find its weakness. May we prevent the next apocalypse. Return to us Rillfane, you must see to it...

This server DID kick ass. We were planning to recreate it as we have the blessing of Phaylon to do so. No time or hosting available though sadly.

Downloaded and extracted the file; couldn't direct connect. After some searching in the forums, it appears this server hasn't been up for weeks. Too bad.

Nicely done dark world! Great atmosphere. Some areas obviously in transition, for easy update I reccomend worldgate or audolo, both are great and allow you and us to update. Also almost no persistent worlds use overrides anymore, I would suggest changing the downloads to haks and don't use anything that clashes with the original game or other servers.

I was a brand newbie (didn't even try NWN) just a couple of months ago, I tried several servers. I had a problem with being Fodder on a few, and there was not anyone there to ask help, HS was a different matter, the DM's, GM's and the other players were very helpful. It's been a great experience and the site is still growing with content. In short I think it's a great server.

A wonderful PW. The DMs and Players are friendly and looking to help new players. The quests help you get to know the areas.

This server has come a long way. With custom Factions, Capturable towns, even custom races, this server seems to touch into different playstyles and ideas.

I was around during the first Highland Saga, and they have kept all the good stuff from then. Now they're adding to their world with a more immersive and interesting story than even the last one. One of the few persistent worlds I actually bother with.

This server is brilliant. Sure there are some problems, however these problems are being tackled on a weekly basis. The DM presence is almost %100 of the time and events are fun and varied! Ranging from long RP epics to massive hack'n'Slash battles with hundreds of enemies. This server manages to capture the Epic struggle of a world on the brink of its extinction by the "Dark Ones" and that's what sets it apart.
The player base is friendly and most are excellent roleplayers. I have been told of a rare occassions (a while back) of bad players, but never actually had the misfortune of encountering any. I give this server a 9, as it is continuously growing and that inevitably leads to bugs, but the GMs are always on top of it.

Ya know guys, if we just let that preist guy have his say, We would be done with it. Now he has a handful of negative posts here. *shrugs* His visit to HS was quite a while ago, and to tell the truth, he WAS right about the shady players at the time. Things have changed, much for the better. I will leave the voting to the rest of you, as I am the creator and a tad biased. Oh, what the hell, I'll vote, but with a bit of humility.

It is fun to have an enjoyable evening with some friendly players when DMs are around, with a rich background environment where dwarves are the master of the land and elves and human are near extinction.
That said, the web pages needs some updates, especially the nwn1 pw link.
Judging from the comment of "the priest of asmodeus" must be either a new player playing one of the drows without knowing about the background, or an uber expert player who is making fun on everybody. That is why he claimed himself being the Priest of Asmodeus, right?
Or he got killed by the DarkNight before he was banned?
Or he was the DarkNight.
Whatever.

I played a few times and every time i went on i was attacked for no reason whats so ever. It's simply a bad server period. again bad lay out bad textures, bad player base every one posting is going to be biased.
i admit i havent played nwn2 in a month but I know that there are better settings ( that arent totally unoriginal like this one) better player group and better design. Don't listen to these guys as they probably run the game and dont listen to me either. If you want to play here just keep an open opinion to it and dont take a biased word of mouth campaign by the people who own it and one guy who knows better.

Well Despite what Priest says...which are 1000% biased or something. Because i've been on the server for several weeks now and ive just about seen the opposite entirely, and there are many more players who would speak highly of the server also. DMS are around most the day, there are forums where you can discuss anything, like player problems which do get fixed. The DM's help people out on a regular basis on a variety of things, there are several guilds specifically for certain classes and is very roleplay orientated. It is currently only 1-10 but they are working hard on higher level stuff and fixing the current problems. Im giving this a 10 because it has very good potentional and the team working on it is very good. Also most of the players are very good players, and the one who kill steal and the such get dealt with despite what priest says. Textures arnt perfect but they are working on the maps all the time, some of the areas are very well done. I've played several other of the PW's out there right now and this is easily the best one at the moment. It has very good potentional.

Well balanced server. A good job done on such a short time and still improving. DM- is working hard to help the players as much as possible and make some good quests and the builders are making their new area's but must count with the trubles they have because some buggs still show up from obsidian side(like the export player).
For all players who want to start i advise to come and take a look to Highland Saga, have a look arround and try some things out and i'm sure you will enjoy and stay.

I personatly think the server is developping itself well, the construction is evolving gradually and the layout too, the playerbase is great, only a very few of them are of a bad sort, and they are usually quickly noticed and taken care of. The textures cannot be much better than they are right now. Most players will respect others and leave your kills alone and if they did so they often apology about it, the players who PK a newbie senseless are very rare and when they are aroudn they are often frowned upon and talked about.
I'm not an old, but not a new player either, i have enough experience with the DM team and the playerbase and the knowledge of the server to speak out truthfully about it.
The DM team is working hard on it, they are friendly and hear out the players, they talk with them too and lend an ear when needed.
The only thing i have in mind that would degrade this server, is the crashing and lag issue, which is not their fault in itself, their server host is stable.

nope not at all its just their files where compleatly screwed as every one else had the smae problem. I do love by the way that you didnt address the real concerns like bad players and bad mod design but on textures, what a way to pick your battles
