NOTE: The problem with Practiced Spellcaster has been fixed in v1.04. Because of changes to feat.2da between versions, do not use this file with 1.04 or later!
Up through v1.03, the Practiced Spellcaster feats (one each for Bard, Cleric, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer and Wizard) do not correctly appear during level-up. This is a known issue that hopefully will be fixed officially in a future patch. Although it is possible to forcibly give the feat to a character using console commands, doing so makes the character illegal (since they will have one more feat than they should).
This modified feat.2da file allows a character to choose a Practiced Spellcaster feat legally. A feat is made available if the character has at least 4 ranks in Spellcraft and at least 1 level in an appropriate spellcasting class. For example, with at least 1 Wizard level and 4 Spellcraft ranks, Practiced Spellcaster (Wizard) will appear as a feat choice under Spellcasting. Provided the requirements are met, the feat appears regardless of which class is currently being leveled.
Installation Extract feat.2da and copy it to your NWN2 Override directory; it is not necessary to add this to a module as a hak. Note that a local override only affects single-player games; it will not work in multiplayer unless the module host is using the override.
Disclaimer I made this modification for my own use and am sharing it with the hope that it will improve enjoyment of the game for others. That being said, this file is offered as-is and without liability.
I wouldn't use this as-is with 1.02 since changes were made to feat.2da. Sorry, but I did some housecleaning and don't have any 1.02 files remaining, otherwise I'd upload that version. You can wait for the German 1.03 or reinstall the game and choose English instead of German. It was mentioned on the official forums that you can auto-update to 1.03 with an English installation.
Alternatively, if you can post the 1.02 feat.2da for download somewhere and then send me the link (using the Vault email form), I can fix it.
I'm not sure what you're referring to, but Practiced Spellcaster only affects effective caster level for multi-classed characters. It has nothing to do with how many spell slots a character has.
Note: Those of you who downloaded this before 12/4 will need to get the newer version to work with NWN2 1.03, because the patch split Armored Caster into seperate feats for bards and warlocks. These new feats won't be available with the old feat.2da.

I thank you for this mod. It is very cool to be able to add this feat without cheating. Thank you. _________________________ NWN2 Voting Standards - Tattoo it on your forehead.

Reeron:
I used RAR because it is the most common format used here (and it compresses a little better than ZIP). If you are going to download from NW Vault you will need a RAR-compatible program at some point; there are many available, of which WinRar is the "name brand."

Come on Reeron, get with the 21st century. You need WinRar to unzip it; it's the standard unzipping format now.
I used C:\Program Files\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2\Override\ out of habit from NWN1, but you're free to use either Override folder. I believe it will only make a difference if you have multiple user accounts (since My Documents is user-specific). I'll amend the above Description.
Modified versions of base 2das (those found in Data/2da.zip) don't need to be specified in a module; placing it in the Override directory is enough (e.g. a modified soundset.2da). In other words, yes, this works in the OC (I'm using it in my own play through).
In nwn.ini, the path I specified should be the default for overrides.

Clarification: I meant 'will this feat be availble in the OC with this hak installed?'

Will this be available for the OC? Also, why copy to the NWN override folder and not the My Documents override folder?
