Description
**Always Summer: Obsidians Original NWN2 Clothing and Armor Adapted for Warmer Climes**

* 12/14/08: Updated the NX1 package to work with NX2 (SoZ).

If its Neverwinter, one assumes that, at least some of the time, its warm there. On such days, it much be terribly uncomfortable running around in those heavy robes everyone wears. Especially since not everyone has access to Endure Elements. :)

With that in mind, I took a stab at adapting the original clothing and armor models provided by Obsidian for greater comfort in warmer climes. Shorter skirts/kilts, no sleeves, and lower necklines certainly must be more comfortable during summer, right?

For females, I did most of this using Jesters NWC mesh, which is excellent for making short skirts, although I used Zylchs Female Nude Base for a couple of outfits that didnt require skirts. For males, I did all of this using the various models provided in the Shirtless Saga Armor Pack, Volume 2 by Barrel of Monkeys and RunnerDuck. Thus far, Ive adapted all outfits for females and clothing (but not armor) for males. Male Armor will come next (but maybe not soon).

In adapting the armor, I tried to make the armor a little skimpier while still appearing somewhat protective (with a little willing suspension of disbelief). In other words, I tried to avoid the chainmail bikini look. If you still dont buy that the armor is protective, you dont have to use it. It is in a separate folder from the clothing, so you can easily just put the clothing in your override directory, without using my armor adaptations.

There are two versions available:

1. The Replacing version, which overrides almost all of the default Obsidian clothing and armor models with their summer counterparts. If you put this in your override directory, creatures of playable races (including your PC and companions) in every module you play (including the OC) will be dressed for summer. This may or may not be something you want, so I leave the decision to you.

2. The Nonreplacing version, which allows you to use both the default Obsidian models and their summer counterparts at the same time. This could be useful if you are a module builder who wants NPCs to change clothes with the seasons, or if you just want to use these models without affecting everything else. For builders, the non-replacing versions use toolset numbers Cloth 101 through 115, Padded 100, Leather 100 through 103, Chain Shirt 100 through 104, Scale 100 through 101, Full Plate 100 through 103, and Hide 100 through 103.

Right now, the summer models exist for female humans, elves, halflings, and planetouched, and for males of ALL of the playable races (clothing only, not armor for males at this point). All but a few of the original Obsidian clothing and armor models are adapted (see below for an explanation of the exceptions).

Check the read me file for more screenshots and details on installing/using.

Credits:
· Jesters NWC, the basis for most of the female models
· Zylchs Female Nude Base v0.3, the basis of a couple of the female models, and of Jesters NWC
· The Shirtless Saga Armor Pack, Volume 2, by Barrel of Monkeys and RunnerDuck
· RunnerDucks MDB Cloner, which made doing this much, much easier (previously credited incorrectly, sorry)
· ShadowAvatar87s Sexy OC, which gave me the idea for this in the first place

Version Notes
Original Release: just the cloth outfits
Version 0.2: fixed the uti files contained in the nonreplacing version
Version 2: redid a few of the cloth outfits using Jesters NWC version 1.2 (much better for assymetrical outfits); full release of the armor.
Version 2.1 (replacing version only): fixed the ugly, unintended effects on dwarves, gnomes, and half-orcs.
Version 3: Added male clothing, repackaged the entire project to eliminate the need for duplicate textures for the nonreplacing and replacing version and to make updating easier.
8/16/07: if the "flickering" around the laces/chain links of Leather 0 and Chain 0 bothers you, I've added optional alternate versions without the laces/links. Extract these and replace the appropriate textures in AS Textures - Female Armor v3 if you prefer.
10/13/07: I finally figured out how to make the metal armor shiny! I'm releasing the updated normal maps as a separate download, as some people might not like the change. Just download and replace the appropriate files in your override to try this out.
10/24/07: I've uploaded a file that attempts to deal with some of the NX1 issues (companions and gensai) and adds some new armor. Check out the new NX1 read me for details.
05/13/08: Uploaded a little fix intended to make Kana's appearance less stupid.
06/05/08: Fixed Brelaina's appearance too.
08/05/08: Added some variations on the originals, as requested by Charloulou.
12/14/08: Updated the NX1 package to work with NX2 (SoZ).

Hey Chimneyfish, love the mod, makes NWN2 actually look good.
Having a bit of a problem, I cant get the NX1NX2 mod to work on my female Yaun Ti, havent tried it on a genashi yet but the Yaun Ti is missing the textures everytime I have the mod with the .2da file, I KNOW that you tell us how to fix this problem but there isnt any other .2da files in my override anymore. Could someone give me a little advice?

Posted by Ransom at 2010-08-15 12:01:59
RMSXIII - Have you downloaded the file Always_Summer.pdf and followed the instructions therein?

If you are using the non-replacing version, you need the UTI files (do NOT rename them) AND the appropriate model files. ALL of these files must be unzipped into your override directory. THEN, in game, you must use debug mode to give the clothing to your characters.

If you want everyone's clothing to change (which it sounds like you do), you actually want the REPLACING version. Download those model files and follow the instructions in the pdf...

Posted by RMSXIII at 2010-08-05 13:07:56
Alright, I dont think that its the number that's the problem, but all of the clothes are just regular with tints.
Anyone help me?!?!?!?!

How do you fix the non-replacing clothes? Do I rename the uti files? I tried but it was still the regular clothes but with tints

Put the files in the override folder that is in my documents. It is best not to mess around with the override directory.

The reason you can't see the armor in the toolset is that male versions do not exist for the armors like they do for cloth. The toolset's item creation preview and list of numbers available defaults to male. There are a couple of workarounds to help view the female only outfits if you are creating custom items based on them:

1. If you cannot pick (for example) Leather 101 using the dropdowns in the Armor Set window, go to the main Properties tab. Expand the section for Chest. Enter Leather on the line for ArmorVisualType and then type 101 on the line for Armor Variation. Go back to the Armor Set tab and click the checkbox that says Show as Female.

2. Because the process above can be annoying and repetitive while building custom items, I usually create a female creature. With a female creature, you can use the Armor Set tab and things will show up properly. Once you've got your outfit designed using the creature (tints, etc.), you can create an item and copy over the selections you made for your creature. This way you only have to go through the direct entry of number once.

Okay sorry I have no idea what's going on. I've downloaded all non-replacing files and all textures and the expansion files too and the only one's that seem to work are the cloth ones. The rest of the armored ones do not come up when I'm using tool set.

Can someone put a very literal step by step guide to installing these. There are 2 override folders, one in the c: installation location and one in my documents. Do I use one of them, or both or what? I ended up deleting all those files because it's just become a massive mess with a million folders and files everywhere not knowing where exactly to put them.

I'm not flaming or angry I'm just confused, even after reading the pdf. Yeah I know I'm probably just stupid but ahh well can't help it.

Heh, ok. I just got 3d Max 3d 2010 just to edit that (I'm very picky about the look of my PC)
I'll see if I can fix that problem.

Andros - I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about, but I doubt I can do anything about it. The behavior of the textures when the character animates is controlled by the underlying model, which I did not create and do not have the ability to edit. All I did was create the textures that go on top of models created by others.

hello there ChimneyFish, I wanted to point out a problem with one of the outfits. The clothing set that goes under numbers 48, 49, 50 in Charlie's Appearance modifier looks great when standing up still but when entering fighting mode the underpants area looks wrong. Instead of maintaining the curves of the character's behind there seems to be a huge diaper effect that looks unrealistic. Could you please take a look at this and submit a fix for this? I was really looking forward to using this on my monk (which is where the animation looks wrong, in the fighting stance). Thank you for your time.

You want the clothing on your PC only, not every creature in the game, right?

Unfortunately, there is no quick and easy way to do that. Best bet is to download the nonreplacing version, use the toolset to create your own versions of whatever clothes/armor your PC likes to wear (with the appropriate magical properties, if needed), then give yourself the custom versions in the game and drop the old versions.

Looking at the replacing models folder I see files like P_HHF_CH_Body01.mdb and P_HHF_HD_Body03.mdb. To better pose my question is there a particular set of files that I would have to delete to make these changes work with Wood Elves only for example?

Hello there dear creator of always summer, I am using your mod and find it quite well made. A fine 10 for you. Now, I have a problem, I would like having the stripped armor and clothing on my single player Avatar only, is there any way I can do that?

Greetings

Excuse me, because maybe someone asked this before, but I haven't found an appropriate solution yet.
I installed the the non-replacing version, and some of the armors/cloths look just as the default 'bare skin' only with different colours when I gave them to my character ingame.
I am quit sure that I placed all neccesary files in my override-folder, and the new stuffs is actually appearing in my inventory by debugging, but they don't look like they should.

I'd would be nice if someone can help me with that, if he/she knows where the problem is.

Wonderful pieces here, thank you for these. Maybe you and Aleanne could colaborate on something? His work is amazing, just like yours. I'm giving you a full 10 becuase all work related to making armors look better should be encouraged to full extent. OE gave some great stuff, but it left so much to the imagination that I fear it sucked the "fantasy" right out of it. Lets face it,... We all want studs, and babes at our side when we take down our opponents. Makes the vistory that much sweeter!

I like it, but for whatever reason the armor and clothing for the Yuan-Ti doesn't work (it looks like Obsidian standard) unless I delete the appearance.2da that you mention in the readme. I tried this from a fresh override directory so there shouldn't be any conflicts. Anyways, I just decided to use Viola's Yuan-ti Pureblood re-texture mod and that fixes the problem for me.

I also get the flicker problem (very noticeable, especially lighter skinned races, on the backs of armor when not wearing a cloak) under certain lighting conditions (never indoors, usually only in direct "sunlight"), and only when zoomed out a good distance from my character, that one of the other posters commented on. I suppose you can't do anything about that because it has to do with the underlying mesh, but it's quite a let down because otherwise it would be perfect.

Good work!

Depends which specific armors you want to use. But, if you want to use everything, you need:

AS_Nonreplacing_Models__Female_Clothing_v3.rar
AS_Nonreplacing_Models__Female_Armor_v3.rar
AS_Nonreplacing_Models__Male_Clothing_v3.rar
AS_Textures__Female_Clothing_v3.rar
AS_Textures__Female_Armor_v3.rar
AS_Textures__Male_Clothing_v3.rar
NX1NX2_Always_Summer_v2.rar

You can reduce that list if you're only interested in, for example, female clothing.

Would love to use some of these armors in my next module, but hell... There are just way too many files - I don't know what I'll need and what I won't need.

Could you explain what files do I need to download to use your non-replacing armor? I'll first try them in override and then create a custom hak propably :3

I like this mod a lot. Some of the standard NWN 2 armor were really just plain and boring. The whole game looks much better with this.

Congratulations you for your impressive packs. I have advised players to use them in my solo campaign in French, "A Slave Destiny" Part I and II. Both parts are currently well rated by players. Your packs are probably contributing to it's success.

Very Tastefully done. I'd go for the Sexy OC mod, but I don't want any friends who touch my comp to load NWN2 and think I am a pervert. I found the default clothing ridiculously modest, as though they were going to market this game in Saudi Arabia.
Anyway, Thanks for all the work.
