Heed's No Con 2 is a small hak pak/script system that will hide the challenge rating when a PC examines a creature. All description text is left visible and fully intact.
Note:
This package should not be considered as entirely secure in terms of circumvention. If a player wants to see the CR's on creatures there are ways to see them with this package in use. CR's should never be visible through the course of normal play, but extraordinary measures outside of the playing environment can be taken so that CR's will be displayed as usual. To be blunt, someone who is willing to "cheat" can find a way around this solution.
I was hoping to see the server side switch to handle this get implemented by now and not need to release this package, but it doesn't seem to be on the near horizon.
However, I know there are many players/worlds where the players themselves are happy to have the CR's removed and would welcome a system that removes the CR's while leaving descriptions available. Even if you don't want to see the CR's it's difficult to ignore them in glowing colour when looking at a creature's description. With No Con 2 you can safely read creature descriptions without seeing the technicolour CR's.
Known Issues:
Using the "Default Action: Examine" option in the toolset for placeable objects can break the examine text for that placeable. You can use the onclick or onuse event to assign an examine action instead. If the player has the "Auto-set target with Action" option set, then the examine text will be fine. It's only if the placeable is set to the default action of examine and the player has auto-set target off that this will be an issue. Basically, it's because I need to find the kind of object that is being examined so I can adjust the examine screen accordingly, and the default action examine doesn't require a target object selection. (i.e. you can have something else up in the examine window while triggering the examine event on a default action examine placeable).
Examining a spell from the spellbook will break the examine text if a creature is selected at the same time. Another version of the issue listed above as the spell is not set to the object selection when examined. Don't examine spells from the spellbook with a creature selected. Examining spells from the quickcast does, however, display full examine text normally even if a creature is selected.
Having certain .ini file debug settings set may break some examine text if in windowed mode. Hehe, I just spent over an hour tring to figure out why it seemed like the system just suddenly stopped working. I had DebugMode and Debug Text set in my nwn.ini in the \My Docs. I think they were both on, but the problem wasn't resolved until I deleted those entries from that nwn.ini file. Just a FYI and it's only when in windowed mode as fullscreen rendered normally even with those ini settings.
There's still an issue with possessed familiars being able to see CR's since their default mouse cursor is the examine cursor. This means they can examine creatures without having to select them first. Since I need to know what kind of creature is being examined and familiars can examine things without selecting them first this breaks the system.
I doubt I can fix this until Obsidian fix the script function GetPlayerCreatureExamineTarget() so that it returns the examine object correctly. Currently, I need to use the function GetPlayerCurrentTarget() which returns the selected target object. I really need the other function so I can find the examine target regardless of the selection target.
But as I said above, this is not a system of enforcement; rather, it's a system for those who desire not to see the CR's.
Examining things while possessing your familiar can be done fine as long as you r-click and use the examine option off the menu. _________________________ Thought thinks itself.
Fixed a bug whereby a CR could become visible if you examined a creature while possessing a familiar. Note that if you are possessing your familiar and click on yourself your own familiar's CR may become visible. I don't think that should be a problem for anyone, but can be avoided by not having a creature selected.
Thanks for the bug report. :) Let me know if you find any other issues. _________________________ Thought thinks itself.

You can see Challenge rating by examinating from your pet (mage compagnon).

Fixed a bug that caused some bottom text to become truncated when examining spells and some other items.
That should fix the truncated bottom text. Please let me know if it doesn't or if you find any other problems. _________________________ Thought thinks itself.
