The Blackguard now gains the ability at 8th level to summon an immensely powerful Hell Hound from the lower planes. This beast is nearly the size of a Nessian Warhound and has the fiendish benefits of being a Blackguard's servant. It is a 12 HD creature with an 18 Spell Resistance and Damage Reduction 10/Magic. By virtue of it's increased size and strength it also wears a chain shirt as barding like the Nessian Warhound increasing it's survivability greatly. It's bite deals 2d6 damage plus d8 in fire damage along with the usual strength bonus. The servant is immune to fire. While a hell hound has a natural 50% vulnerability to cold, being a fiendish servant of the Blackguard has granted the hound a 10/- resistance to cold to minimize their vulnerability.
Future Update:
Given the Nessian Warhound is generally equipped with a +2 Chain Shirt as armor, I'm looking at a minor Blackguard crafting system that will allow them to add a higher +enhance bonus on their servants armor as well as possibly some damage resistances.
I'm also looking at further scaling the pet for epic character levels (21-30). Without Epic Blackguard and the Epic Fiendish Servant feat the pet is too weak for epic levels.
If PW/Module developers are interested in an upgraded pet for Blackguards but properly based on the Improved Fiendish Servant feat(the current upgrade) or the Epic Fiendish Servant feat (coming upgrade) I'll be happy to do so. Otherwise I'll leave it as a drop in upgrade for single player use.
This link used to be the stand alone version of the Blackguard/Assassin upgrade but with MotB and my drastic cleanup of the changes I decided to change this to the pet only.
This is an upgrade for the Fiendish Servant of the Blackguard. At 8th level the Blackguard can summon a great Hell Hound of size and strength nearly matching that of a Nessian Warhound. Simply unzip to the override folder.

Instead of using a hellhound, you could use the Lesser Nightmare from the Planar Handbook, it also has a 1d4 fire damage. The nightmare model is fortunately available at the vault
This works with patch 1.10. With MotB I'll be adding the epic feats: Widen Aura Of Despair and Improved Aura Of Despair for Blackguards. _________________________ My Website

Oh man! I just found out that you updated this again with the Hell Hound. Just awesome! To be honest I've been kind of bored with NWN2 lately. I went back and started playing KotOR2 again. That game, as old as it is, still holds up to NWN2. The graphics in NWN2 are a little bit better (improved lighting and slightly increased polys, but you almost don't notice it because the modeling in KotOR is so much better--especially the heads. I mean just look at the model for the canines in NWN2 for example. Their front legs are like arms. It looks really strange to me. Obsidian needs to fire that modeler. I've been thinking about fixing it myself but I don't have time at the moment. Well, I'm going off on a tangent as usual. Great work man!
As an optional download, a level 8 Blackguard now gets the benefits of an Improved Fiendish Servant. This is an exceptionally large and dangerous fiendish Hell Hound that is loyal to the Blackguard. See the Blackguard section above for the specifics about the hound. _________________________ My Website

Fantastic work. Spellbooks really pan out the PrCs a bit more, and these two need all the love they can get.
I took at look at the Improved Fiendish Servant feat and a hellhound is a pretty close approximation to a dire ape or heavy warhorse that they should get for the feat. It's also a bit more evil in nature so that should work out well. I'll add in the scaled hd it should have from the BG's total character level so at level 20 the Hellhound will have like 10 HD (12 BAB). It wont' be epic (that's the Vrock) but it would be a good medium between the basic servant and the epic fiend. I can do it as a normal companion (like the current rat) pretty quickly. Looking into treating it as a familiar will take more time and research, if it's possible. _________________________ My Website

About the improved fiendish servant, I was thinking that it would be vastly improved if the servant was like a familiar. If the servant could be made to function as a familiar, then you would be able to possess it and scout/spy with it as the description says. It might be impossible to do, I don't know. But I think it would be cool if you could create a new familiar--a standard Hell Hound with the addition of the Track feat. Then change the Fiendish Servant feat to summon this Hell Hound familiar which would increase in levels as the Blackguard leveled like a standard familiar or animal companion. The Hell Hound could then be possessed and thus able to hide/sneak for scouting and also track down the Blackguard's enemies. If it's possible, I think this would be balanced, and just a hell of a lot cooler than the rat.
v1.21 fixes the problem with the new spells showing up in the spellbooks of the other classes. Sorry! _________________________ My Website

The rat is close to the 3.5 PNP? I didn't know (and too bad). I was thinking of the NWN1 blackguard who got a Succubus and then a Vrock demon at higher levels--now that was cool. Still, the rat seems underpowered as a high level Blackguard ability in NWN2. It doesn't last a second against high level enemies. And the game engine makes it impossible to scout or spy with it as the description suggests. An Improved Fiendish Servant feat sounds like a great idea!
I've got the Blackguard working with bonus spells so I need to do the Assassin and then update the character fix script. I can look into the Improved Fiendish Servant feat since the servant granted is pretty close to pnp. _________________________ My Website

He he, glad you enjoyed jallaix. I tested these out last night by making a cleric, ranger, assassin, blackguard. Everything worked perfectly. Great work! This is a must have for anyone wanting to play those prestige classes.
I'll definitely increase my vote after the next version comes out. My only suggestion is to make the cheesy dire rat into something cool (like a giant hell hound or a fiendish dire wolf for example.)

This is great! It really restores some usefulness to these prestige classes.
Can you do anything about the Blackguard's fiendish dire rat of wimpiness? I mean really, was that a joke by some frustrated designer?
Here we have the Blackguard, a Champion of Darkness, evil literally rolling off of him like a black cloud causing flowers to wilt and would-be-heroes to shake in their boots as he passes by. He raises his hand to sky and shouts the words of a summons in some profane tongue. The sky darkens and the earth splits open like a hungry maw, issuing forth acrid sulfur and the screams of a thousand damned souls. And from this pit of evil crawls forth...a big rat! The would-be-hero who was moments before cowering in fear, breaks out into laughter. He gets up. Walks over to the Blackguard and says, "Dude, you almost had me there for a moment. But a giant rat!? You sold your soul for a giant rat?!! Just pathetic." "Well, um er just...just hold on a second I've got a skelet...", the Blackguard begins to stammer. But before he can finish, the would-be-hero kicks him in the nuts and pushes him into the glowing hell pit. The rat runs away in search of cheese. The would-be-hero dust himself off. "What a joke", he mutters to no one in particular and walks off.

All haks that makes NWN2 more PnP are at my taste.
Continue to make new class changes like that ! _________________________ Spellcasting Framework Wild/Dead Magic Zone (Spellcasting Framework add-on)
Version 1.1 has been released and now includes the upgrades for the Blackguard PRC. The groundwork for the added spells/day based on the casting stat has been finished and should be in the next release. _________________________ My Website

OMG finally someone cares for the bad guys... well done!! Hope to see the full assassin spellbook implemented soon, it´s something we really need, or this class will fade in the shadows and disappear... _________________________ Visita mi blog de La Llamada de la Sangre.
