Name  Subraces Pak Beta
Author  Soul Filcher
Submitted / Updated  08-28-2007 / 09-11-2007
Category  Races
Patch  1.06
Description
This pak adds several races to the game. I know there´s an expansion coming up with new races... But it was something I worked on when I got that beta toolset, so I think it is worth to upload. This is a BETA, so many things still have to be changed.

09-11-07. Here´s a list of playable races (See readme file for more information):
-Arctic Dwarf.
-Bladeling.
-Bugbear.
-Chaond.
-Deep Imaskari.
-Durzagon.
-Fey´ri.
-Feytouched.
-Goblin.
-Gray Orc.
-Half-Drow.
-Half-Ogre.
-Hobgoblin.
-Kobold.
-Lizardfolk.
-Maeluth.
-Mechanatrix.
-Mountain Orc.
-Orog.
-Shyft.
-Tanarukk.
-Wild Dwarf.
-Wispling.
-Zenythri.

And here´s the list of races that I haven´t finished yet:
-Forest Gnome.
-Avariel.
-Neanderthal.
-Half-Janni.
-Nixie.
-Gloaming.
-Uldra.
-Ogre.

This is the last beta upload. There are many issues and some races to finish, so now I´m gonna work on the 1.0 version.

Hey, any chance that I could request a half-dragon? nothing fancy - just a half-Red dragon with human as the other half. maybe get rid of the fire breath if that makes things easier

Posted by savory at 2008-11-11 22:21:35
any chance of getting a Mul/half dwarf race?

Posted by murdrax at 2008-05-22 17:52:07
i would lo9ve it if this was comapatable with kaedrins prc pack!!

Posted by AnthroPlayer at 2007-11-08 16:39:50
This looks extremely promising and when finished I'm sure this will be an Hall of Famer for sure.

I wish you well in finishing this pack and hope you find great success in your endeavor.

If you need help I am a master of all things that are monster races and would be able to provide much useful information on each creature, their deity, favored class, and favored alignment.

BTW, you'll really REALLY be surprised what you can find with some of the races you've chosen.

Vinchenzo made a post here.
Plz check out my entries. I'm currently making a few simple modules, designing 3 special characters, and hope to someday be good this stuff.

This is Vinchenzo, finishing his post with the following advice:
Don't use Latin improperly (Lupis means grey, Rufus is red, Canid is dog, so on.) Furries annoy me with their improper usage of such. And I'm a furry!!! Ugh...
Don't vote for Beta things unless told they are finished, unless posted specifically by the author.
Don't abuse the vote and post function, don't vote for your own/friends stuff just to get a high vote. Don't flame vote either just to be an ass.
There is a voting system for how the points are used, even I forget, but we should follow it (and tattoo it to our forehead, lol)

For the appearance.2da file, you need to change some of the head skeleton references to P_HH?_Skel, it's not terribly many lines that need this, but without it any custom heads turn up incredibly distorted; I'd email you mine but for whatever reason once I changed those lines the NWN2 Toolset 2DA editor refuses to re-open the files, so I'm trying to see if I accidentally deleted a column or something.

Posted by Soul Filcher at 2007-09-23 16:29:04
Thanks Kunikos, the 2da files have been fixed for the next version.

FYI:

"Here's the deal with certain aspects of custom content not showing up in the 1.07 Beta: there are reserved ranges for feats, spells, classes, familiars, and animal companions that are "blocked off" as invalid unless the expansion is installed. This explains why my custom feats showed up in 1.06 and in MotB, but not in the 1.07 Beta.

Andy Woo informed me of the "blocked" ranges:

 Feats: 1861 - 2135
 Spells: 1009 - 1138
 Classes: 53 - 59
 Familiars: 8 - 9
 Animal Companions: 5 - 7

Entries must be moved out of these ranges to show up unless MotB is installed. Of course, in that case you are overwriting MotB entries."

I don't know if this applies to racial stuff, but I'd assume that some races need feats and such to get innate abilities.

Soul Filcher: Tony_K's AI and Reeron's Spellpack are the two major mods that I recommend to everyone who replays NWN2.

Posted by Lilia at 2007-09-22 06:04:15
Could you make it compatible with the elf head pack? plus whatever that hair pack I'm using is, there's a variety of compilations out there, but your appearance.2da prevents the use of custom heads somehow o.O;; I'll try and get to what's causing the trouble.

Posted by Soul Filcher at 2007-09-17 18:02:21
Please email me if you think I should make this pak compatible with anything else on the vault. I´ll have to download the required files and work on them.

Cool stuff, keep up the good work. I will wait for a more finished version, though. Also, anything that works with Reeron's spellpack is the goodness. :)

Hi! I'm on a NWN2 hiatus right now waiting for NX1, but I've looked at this mod and think it's pretty awesome. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see when it's finished!

It's not bad or anything, but I kind of think you should have finished all the races before uploading it. All of the unworking races really take away from the functional ones. You did enough with the colors so that I mostly didn't mind the fact that you don't have any new models, but if you could get someone who can do modeling, that would always be ideal.

I'm actually going to hold off on voting until all the races are working. I realize I can always change it later, but you wouldn't like the score I'd have to give, so I might as well just hold off until this is done. Keep working on it; it shows promise.

Posted by Soul Filcher at 2007-09-02 10:15:04
Thanks SushiSquid. I´ll consider the possibility of an override version, though not right now. My first priority is to have most of these races finished, and there are races to be added to this list.

Posted by SushiSquid at 2007-09-02 09:55:55
This using a custom TLK file in no way stops you from making an override version. All it means is that the custom TLK you include just has to be an edited version of the game's dialog.TLK and has to have that same name. It would make this conflict with other things on the Vault, but you could always make special versions of the dialog.TLK file for use with other popular things. Probably the only thing popular enough to do that with is Reeron's spell fix pack.

I'll download and try this, but you really should make an override version. Having to add the .hak file to modules manually is kind of annoying, and isn't something most of the people who would want to use this would even know how to do. I understand that your target audience may be people who build modules, but regardless, the average person who wants to use this will simply want it for the official campaign.

Still, this does look nice, so I'll try it out and vote on this soon. Thanks for the submission; even if it seems like I'm not appreciative, I am. I know what kind of work it can take to do this stuff.

well damn you mwntioning aall those racees got my intrest p[eaked for using in the core campaign would have been fun

Posted by Soul Filcher at 2007-08-30 18:59:40
Murdrax, the problem is that you can't just use the override in this case since this pak uses a custom tlk file. This pak is supposed to be used by developers and module builders.

Posted by murdrax at 2007-08-30 14:31:34
hey heres an idea how about realesing an ovverride version that you can download and put into the folder to use right away for exmaple with the default campaign!!

Posted by murdrax at 2007-08-29 21:29:24
sorry but im not rating this because i can get it to work i put both tlk file and hak file into override folder doesnt work tryed making a hak folder for hak file still doesnt work until this mod actually runs for me im not gonna vote in any way!!
