NWN2 ORIGINAL HAKPAKS

Name  Heed's Tint Pack
Author  Heed
Submitted / Updated  10-14-2006 / 12-12-2006
Category  Placeables
Patch  1.03
Description
Heed's Tint Pack aims to provide tinting support for in-game objects that currently can't be tinted. Not all placeables will respond if you enter tint colours for them beacuse not all models have a tint map applied to them or a tint map created for them. The purpose of this pack is to provide the models and textures necessary to enable untintable objects to be tintable. This first release enables all five interior doors to be tinted. A readme is included in the .rar file.

v0.2:

Added the 2 fireplace placeables and made the pack into a proper hak pak.

v0.25:

Added 39 walls: keep, city and stone. Keep in mind that tints will work better on some textures than others. A light colour tint is usually best. Also, with this update you will notice that, by default, the walls appear pitch black. This is because the actual toolset blueprints have pure black entered as the tint colours. If you have any placed instances of the walls you will need to update them with tint colours to get rid of the pitch black appearance. Pure white in the tint fields will give you the default texture appearance as it was before applying the hak pak. From that baseline you can adjust tints as desired.

Heed House 2 (author's homepage link above) is likewise discontinued.

Nvm the comment about Access; Apparently this is a different kind of .mdb file. I will try to use Maya (or Lightwave or 3DS, whichever works) in order to view and edit it.

I found a decent dds viewer (free downloadable, though most people probably already have photoshop), and found out mdb should be editted with MS Access (I have office 2003 and everytime I tried to open a NWN2 mdb file, I'd get unrecognized database format error, so I just went out and got office 2007 hoping Access 07 will work).

I'm trying to open up the OEI mdb files and compare them to the mdb files to see what I need to do to make one of the placeables (the stairs) tintable.

Thanks for giving us more variety when building.

Could we have any problems if we build with this, and then OEI replaces their mdb and dds? Or would we simply need to remove the hak?

Could you tell me what software one can use to view the mdb and dds files?

Thanks

Just a note that I will be waiting for the game final release before adding more tinting options. I have a feeling that the final build will offer more tinting options or they will be added in a patch, so it seems wise to wait and see how things go.
