Description
Is it possible to create a hak so a character would be able to continuously walk by hitting a key/button?

The 'track' button won't do because I have a ranger with the Fast Tracker feat (tracks all the time with no movement penalty).

The 'stealth' button won't do because my ranger will get the Camouflage feat (no movement penalty while in stealth mode).

The 'detect' button won't do because you get spammed with the message "You search the nearby area for traps..." over and over and over again.

And finally, pressing the 'shift' key won't do because my character suddenly breaks into a run whenever I click on something (door, chest, merchant, fuzzy little critter, ...you get the point).

So please help. Running everywhere in a PW is just plain lame.

I hope someone has the skill and will to do this. shift + w would work but then the mouse wheel cycles quick slot bars instead of zoom. I'd use this kind of feature in OC too. Value for the money.

How about creating a talisman that, when activated, would encumber him/her?

Ummm... Not sure which game you're thinking of, but this does not work in NWN2. If you meant holding down the 'shift' key, I've already indicated that is non a viable option.

This is simple just hit the caps log key and you toggle from walk/run mode

Sounds like this has been tried already, then.

If all else fails, is there a way to remove the "You search the nearby area for traps..." spam you get when you press 'detect'?

Getting the "Drive Mode Forward" keymap to appear in the options window is easy, getting it to work the way it should isn't.

After editing the corresponding 2da file, the game engine still treats it as a full run rather than a walk.

Thus I doubt a HAK will suffice - we need Obsidian to add in the missing gamecode for it to render the walk animations properly.

Well that's encouraging. Any reason in particular why it can't be done?

I doubt it can be HAK'd, so I can only suggest to make the most/best use of that [Shift] key ... and avoid clicking on interactive objects until you're in 'striking distance' (up close) to them.

Choices then being:

1. Left Mouse button + [Shift] and 'drive' the character to the destination.

- or -

2. [Shift] + click next to / in front of (not directly at) the target.

In either case it works.
