I think it would be wonderful for those of us who like to roleplay. To put in a quick an easy way to do emotes and voicechat simular to NWN 1. It would make multiplayer more enjoyable. Anyone who's played on multiplayer RP and PW servers knew people used voice chat anyway so I didn't really see the purpose of changing it. It would be great to be able to use the number keypad to use the function.
"0" Would active the menu and it would be divided into subcatagories from there.
this is planned for implementation in the 1.04 patch in late December. The folk at Obsidian call it "quickchat" so you might be able to turn up info on the forums by searching for that as a keyword.

Good idea! However ...
Wouldn't this work as an item? My line of thinking is this; I saw a token script on the vault recently that would do this. If one puts an item on the quick bar, it opens the menu on pressing it anyway. It just means that it would have to be scripted slightly cleverly as context-menu item abilities.
Someone could then create a small module, just a room and put the item in it and set it as a global. They could also provide an override so that the person could carry it around with them.
Then if a group are getting together to roleplay, they could either toss this item in the module they're going to play or they could all head into this room first, grab the token and then head off on their adventures.
Wouldn't that work? I imagine it'd be easier to script.

Absolutely. To me, this change between NWN and NWN2 was a "It's not broke, why did you 'fix' it" category. I'd also like to be able to "chain" emotes or loop emotes from the quickbar. Like, so I could dance until I decide to do something else. Or I could wave a greeting *and* say hello, without having to do two separate commands, like I did in NWN.
