Description
It seems that when you create a ranger you are supposed to know exactly what is meant by these vague descriptions of creature types. I'm sure there are a few DnD gurus around that might actually know what is meant by them.
Do you think someone could come up with a list of what the favored enemies actually are for a ranger? Here's my take on it, please help if you can.
AnthroPlayer,
The creatures I listed are straight from the ranger level up screen.
DM Mask,
I too am addicted to the wiki, but I'm asking for an override maybe, that would show what creatures are in these groups. When you click on one of these groups it gives you a description of what a favored enemy bonus is, but not what the creatures are. How many times have I chosen the wrong one!
Thanks everyone.

Huh - I should've read this more carefully. Adding all that stuff to the level-up would be neat, of course. But even just having this sort of list somewhere would be nice, I think. _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave
I believe that someone with the required proficiency with the toolset (which may be just a very low level of proficiency) could provide such a list relatively easily (although it could take some work). And I agree that such a list would be a great resource. Indeed, I think that there should be such a list stickied somewhere in the forums. Not sure where. But somewhere. Great idea, SirChet!
I found the half-elf and half-orc favored enemies to be a waste of a feat. I really believe they should be merged with either human or the other half they represent.
Aberrations include beings with un-natural and impossible body shapes, organs, abilities, etc. An Mindflayer, Darkmantle, Intellect Devourer, are all commonly known aberrations, as well as carrion crawlers.
Constructs include golems, machines, and various beings that are artificial, as well as animated objects.
Fey include things like nymphs, dryads, pixies, nixies, grigs, hags, and other nature based feminine creatures. Most fey surprisingly have male counterparts, but few people tend to remember which (pixies, nixies, and grigs have male counterparts).
Giants include obviously giants as well as trolls and ogres.
Goblinoids include goblins, hobgoblins, bugbears, and jermlaine I believe.
Magical Beasts vary greatly from things like Sphinxes to the Corrallax.
Monstrous Humanoids include Minotaurs, Gnolls, and Formians, not bugbears (bugbears are goblinoids).
Outsiders include celestials, infernals, abyssyals, angelic beings, planar entities, ethereal entities, and astral entities.
Plants include a variaty of annoying things from assassin vines, thornies, blight twigs, shambling mounds. Surprisly, treants are actually a type of giant in the monster manuals.
Reptilian humanoids include lizardfolk, troglodytes, sahaughin, and kobolds.
Shapechangers include dopplegangers, werebeasts, and just about any being whose primary abilities are to transform.
Vermin include insects and arachnids, but not mice which are included under animals.
You forgot to list Oozes, which contain a variety of beings from the commonly known jellies to other bizarre creatures.
You forgot to include animals, which is basically every normal mundane animal, excluding dire animals.
Beasts include dire animals and enhanced animals like the Razor Boar, Carnivorous Ape, and a few other large but common creatures with extra mundane abilities and/or enhanced strength.
You forgot Monstrous Beasts, which include the Spider Eater, Gorillion, Owlbear, and a few other bizarre large animal-like beasts. _________________________ @===============================================@
Vinchenzo made a post here.
Plz check out my entries. I'm currently making a few simple modules, designing 3 special characters, and hope to someday be good this stuff.
This is Vinchenzo, finishing his post with the following advice:
Don't use Latin improperly (Lupis means grey, Rufus is red, Canid is dog, so on.) Furries annoy me with their improper usage of such. And I'm a furry!!! Ugh...
Don't vote for Beta things unless told they are finished, unless posted specifically by the author.
Don't abuse the vote and post function, don't vote for your own/friends stuff just to get a high vote. Don't flame vote either just to be an ass.
There is a voting system for how the points are used, even I forget, but we should follow it (and tattoo it to our forehead, lol)
