There is a new d20 game being released soon. The game is produced by Paizo Publishing and is called Pathfinder. It has been heralded by some as a better choice the 4e, others have their reservations. I like to call it DnD 3.75 myself. I have decided that it would be worth the effort to convert NWN2 rules system into the new system updated by Pathfinder. I was wondering how much interest there would be in this project? Has anyone else started it already? Worth my time? I have done some amateur modding of the engine in the past, tweaking classes, making prestige classes, and the like. So what do you guys think?

I'd love to see the pathfinder rules imported into NWN2. NWN2 has some major balance issues that pathfinder could help with, and some aspects of it could be refreshing to the old system enough to make any modules it is compatible with, as well as possibly the OC and such, re-play-able, with the likely increased customizability of pathfinder based characters.
I'd probably want to see two different things, one would be a rule system conversion that is intended to be compatible with most current modules, as well as the OC, MotB, and SoZ, which uses pathfinder re-balancing and improved customization features, but retains the Forgotten Realms setting, and the other is a full pathfinder Golarion NWN2 setting with some adaptations of quests for the Pathfinder setting into a nice module, or series of modules.

YES! We need this so bad. I think Pathfinder would make a wonderful use of the NWN engine.
I suppose one could write a collection of weapon proficiencies for the different weapon groups; then create a class feature that provides a bonus to attack and damage from weapons within that proficiency. In fact aside from the feats, that may well be the easiest part to redo. Armour Training, redoing the skill system (which is probably hard coded) and adding combat manoeuvres would probably be the hard parts.

I would LOVE to build a campaign around one of their adventure paths. Like legacy of fire.

I think it's a great idea - Pathfinder is (IMHO) the future of D&D style gaming, and offers a number of excellent improvements. Go for it.

I'm all for it. Personally I think Pathfinder is the right way to go, but there are some other d20 revisions out there that are just as good, and if things are taken from a bunch of these revisions you end up with an amazing d20 game.
Pathfinder - Some Good Revisions
Project Phoenix - Some Other Good revisions, in systems and classes
Arcana Evolved - Good Alt Rules and better monster design system. > Monsters are designed as classes, and as such the LA/CR is unneeded.
TOME OF NECROMANCY, TOME OF FIENDS, DUNGEONOMICON, RACES OF WAR By Frank Trollman and K is good if you can find a PDF of it.
and UpperKrust's CR Rules make designing balanced monsters and classes much more attainable.

It's actually verry possible to do if you overlook 1 or 2 rules itw ould be realativly quick. Fighters would get the shaft on armor mastery and would have to gain free weapon focuses instead of broad groups. Sorcerer Bloodlines would be easy you would do it with class feats, the rest is simple. To do it completely you would need a BIG team of at least 10 who had experience in Custom classes.

I dont know if anyone would be really interested in this anymore, but the basic idea is to do what the PrC did in NWN1. Essentially find a way to disable the parts of the game engine youre changing, and replicate the whole thing with scripts.
It's a huge project. It would be really cool, I admit, but still, huge amount of work.
I've got the free beta PDF, and I must say, I find Pathfinder to be far less offensive to my sensibilities than D&D 4e. I don't know anything about modding the Aurora engine, and thus will not be able to help you, but I would definitely like to see a Pathfinder mod happen. _________________________ "People are easily amused by quotes." - Some guy with a cool-sounding name.
