I hope you don't mean main character. MY main characters have always been able to wear helmets in the OC. I think youmean companions. The reason they can't wear visible helmets is that they have different shaped heads. And their heads won't fit inside the helmets. For some reason they're also taller. Their eyeline is roughly where the top of a head normaly is. If they wear helmets the top of their head sticks out through them and it really looks very buggy. The main reason for this is that their hair is part of their head instead of being a separate model.
Even so, the head being high and the helmet being low is just unpleasant to look at.
Isn't that just the "never draw helmet" switched on? Should be available in all games, but of course it depends what the mod creator has decided when designing the creature. I.e. should you want to test this, create a module in the toolset, add a creature (playable race) and tick off "never draw helmet". Then go to the properties and select a helmet. It won't show. _________________________ best regards,

If you use a character editor, there is a row in the save game file (player.bic) that can switches the visibility of headwear on and off. This does mean, however, closing the game, editing the file and then reopening it - easy but a bit tedious.
