Jov asked how many builders would go through the optional chore to package a portrait pack for NPCs. I emphatically would, and would go to great lengths to do so. The loss of 2D portraits was a severe blow to ability of builders to craft a compelling image for NPCs.
Many probably would. Besides which, NPCs can come later, if at all. It might possibly be more prudent to simply make the faces more appealing, but if not, having the ability to choose what you look at the entire time might be worthwhile.
Yes. You can do that by putting together custom interfaces for the portrait, and allowing builders to specify the portrait when creating the module.
But how many builders would go through this optional chore to package a portrait pack, and systematically add them to all of the NPCs, and having to carry out the scripting effort to let the players call the portraits - all for (negligible) aesthetics?
