More attractive head models and more interesting bodies.

Description
What I'd love to see (and would happily do myself if I had either the software or the knowledge to work in 3D) is some better faces, especially females. The overwhelming majority of the faces that are present in the current game build aren't particularly attractive. Most of the females of all races, but especially the elves, look distinctly masculine. Even some relatively modest tweaks to the existing choices would be an enormous improvement.
Secondly, the PC bodies are kind of odd. The proportioning and textures are fine, and the various starting outfits are actually quite good, but the "unarmored" model is just plain silly. Now, I'm not looking for nude models--I'm sure those'll happen soon enough--but I thought the approach of the original game, with what amounted to underwear, made a lot more sense than neck-to-toe peasant clothing. Its especially bizarre when one is starting as something like a warlock, where, at least on the female side, the starting armor is moderately revealing, and you remove it to find a shirt and pants underneath. There's something to be said for making the proportions a little more "fantastic"--both male and females more idealized, at least as an option, but I think that's less important.
The faces aren't that bad but they aren't gorgeous super models either. They're just plain and maybe there needs to be some beauties in there as well as some uglies. There's just too little diversity and I guess that is why the females look like men. Its because they're using the same textures.
The comment about the underclothes is right on. I hadn't thought about how wierd it is that a warlock takes it's revealing clothes off only to expose a cheesy jacket, pants and boots. Also, I'd like to see some tattoos. Finally, something about the characters aren't 'Dungeons & Dragons' enough because there is no bare flesh. I don't mean blatant nudity but I think of that old cartoon 'Heavy Metal' and I think about the old D&D monster manuals and how the art was sometimes erotic but not out of character. The underclothes in NWN2 are very much out of character.
Need facial hair models for the female dwarves. A little wispy stuff at least! And by and large I fully agree there are definate needs in head and hair design. If I had the software and some explanation on the interface I would help! Both my parents are artists and I have done the stuff all my life, just not formally. The nose tip to chin line leaves the mouths recessed on all the elves and many others. The dwarves need beards because their jaws are overly recessed. Few of the male faces have the squarer jaw line that is fully indicative of masculine development. Elves and Half-elves come near gaunt, lacking the softness of feature that implies youthful grace and vibrance. The jaws on the women are in most cases too squared, giving them a masculine attribute where more rounding at the back of the jaw would soften the feature. (Heart shaped faces for the women and box it more for some of the men.)
I find myself partial to the female gnomes, and it seems nobody has problems with the dwarves (as in they modeled them well). But thats just my limited view of things.
Better head models would be very nice, for most of the races, plus more hair styles and more facial hair options for the males _________________________ I live and that is enough
I don't agree that the proportions are fine. Everyone's head seems too small for their bodies -- which themselves are, at least in the case of the male and female elves, simply too thick. _________________________ Saerain
Excelent idea, too bad I cant create modles. :)
I was a little disapointed, one of the reviews stated extensive character customization before you ever picked a class.
I was expecting an Oblivion/SWG/EQ2 slider based setup...Guess not so much :)
I completely agree that NWN2 is in dire need of new character models. To be frank, I find 99% of the female faces--of all races--to be completely unattractive, and incredibly strange-looking. I understand that there should be some variety, but I find the female elven faces to be just...odd. I think it would also be nice to have different phenotypes available and more hairstyle options, as the existing hairstyle options for females are pretty unattractive in my opinion. _________________________ vivamus atque amemus
