You cannot compare mortals with immortals, no matter the level. Gods are omnipresent as mentioned in the Salvatore books about the time of troubles. They can be everywhere on the realms at the same time. And they are..well immortal, they can if after all only be killed by another deity. So even a level 1 deity would kill a level 40 fighter with the little finger^^
Aye Faith and Patenons (i tihnk thats the name) the 3.5 ed deity book has most deities well above lvel 40, Elmister is level 32 or something i think Blackstaff is about 35 or so and those are wizards.

I definately want to see epic levels, for multiclassing purposing at least. But I must agree that this will be in the expansions.
And 40 lvls is a very resonable limit as I've seen and played epic PnP campigns with CLs in the 70s up to 200s (a bit excessive)....and greater Dieties are between lvls 40-60 not 30-35.

forgot to vote last time.
this very concept is more flawed then thinking that hitler is the greatest man to walk the earth. it just isn't DnD because it isn't balanced.
most players of DnD in an epic campaign will either continuously die (and have to reroll characters), or by epic levels, quit the game prematurely out of boredom, unless new enemies are made by the hundreds.
epic levels tear apart balance and deficate on it's corpse. _________________________ __________________________________________________

I think that 20 levels is MORE than enough.
for one, classes are equally balanced up to level 20, but more than that makes some classes MUCH better than ALL others.
plus, epic levels make the difference between 1-2 character levels MUCH more profound, due to epic save bonuses at EVERY LEVEL.
AND, there are very, very FEW monsters that make a good challenge to a standard party at epic levels. get past lvl 27 and all that's ever a challange is DRACOLICHES and GODS.
hell, most gods aren't even lvl 23.
hero dieties are lvl 15. lesser dieties are lvl 17. intermediate dieties are lvl 23. and greater dieties tend to be around levels 25-30. Ao and asmoudus are level 35.
NOTHING BUT A FAR REALM ENTITY CAN BE PAST LEVEL 35 WITHOUT IT BEING ODD!
(far realm entities are more powerful than some gods, and make things insane when they believe they exist. they are never actually gods, they are beyond reason or sanity. a handful are more powerful than Ao, but all are confined to that infinite realm beyond the space of the multiverse) _________________________ __________________________________________________

Of course there will be expansions, how else are you supposed to use the prestige classes that are on display. Unless I missed something they can't actually be used, although I have to admit that haven't really played the game much so I could be wrong. _________________________ §çà®Fãçë
all you have to do is open the OC in the toolset and use the campaign editor to raise the level cap. Though I dont think Obsidian has epic level skills and abilities in the game at this time. So just increasing the level cap wont really do much for you.
Fine idea, but I'm with Scarface here, 85% +/-10 sure that its outside the realm of what the mod community can do. _________________________ Itinerant Admin: RPGModding.com - Where Modders Muster.
That's not necessarily true. I imagine if there's as much interest over time in NWN2 as there was in NWN1, then yes we will probably get an expansion with a raised level cap, but this has not been announced and so may never happen.
