Yeah,i think your right Tripp, but as far as i know, the use of timber frames in construction is much older. While searching for reference material i found some really old looking buildings and some newer more fancy/rich looking stuff. If you are interested, i suggest the searching the internet for old english, german, french etc. architecture.
The house looks great. Thanks for sharing it. -Wouldn't that style be more reminiscent of 16th-Century England (the Renaissance in Britain) though, rather than the medieval era?
Viconius im not saying that tinted buildings lack detail or dont look good, but it's difficult to use multicolored textures and tinting at the same time. Now, if i was going to make this model tintable then i would have used a different texture for the roof, the walls are fine since it's mostly the same color, the rock wall uses some different colors so that would need another texture aswell.

I am not sure how they done it with the standard housing, but I would not say their tintable roofs are lacking in detail. Tint does give nice ability to have slight variety when using the same model multiple times.
Not at the moment, i have noticed that tinting can destroy details in some surfaces. If you take a look at the roof for example, it's a combination of green, yellow, brown etc. by making it tintable i have to remove all color from the texture. Only the black and white in the texture is saved, the resulting texture will be only one color. Therefore i probably wont be using tints on all my textures.
