Hello, and here is my first custom creature model for NWN2, the Clay Golem. I started this guy all the way back in January of '07, and though he was conceived of as a quick creature project to get my feet wet, he's been shelved over and over again throughout, as I found myself unable to proceed or forced to shift my focus elsewhere. I first decided to create a Clay Golem because I felt it was a relatively 'safe' choice, and that an official version would not be soon forthcoming. Alas, Mask of the Betrayer is out and NWN2 fans are graced with an official Clay Golem model.
By the time I learned that my Clay Golem was redundant, it was essentially complete, so a public release has always been my intention. Finally, here he is, and I hope that you're able to find some use for him!
As you can see from the screenshots, he's got some optional equippable bits, and is quite tintable.
Known Issues:
WalkRight and WalkLeft (strafing) animations are a bit janky.
Though an AnimTag xml file is included, the game doesn't seem to use it. Until I can ferret out the issue, it seems that sound effects like footsteps, attack hits, and attack misses will not play.
Golem skeleton does not have an ap_halo node. This causes chat text spoken by the Golem to appear at his feet, and may affect how visual effects are applied to the model.
Golem skeleton does not have an ap_camera node. This can lead to non-optimal camera angles during 'cinematic' dialogue.
Possibly related to the lack of ap_camera, the Clay Golem does not have a default 3d portrait. For this reason, it must use a custom portrait image (included, as po_claygolem.tga).
This version is an exact copy of the other file, except that it includes an updated appearance.2da file, to make it compliant with Mask of the Betrayer's new creatures.
If you have Mask of the Betrayer, download this version.

This is a good one. It tints nicely and I like the combat animation. _________________________ Co-founder of the PW (open beta) Sea of Dragons. It is a quest-heavy (yet has sandbox elements) role-play server geared towards party adventures for mid level characters.

I just love this big guy! He's going to have a very special role in my upcoming module.

This is really fantastic. I thought I had commented on this previously. I love the character put into this, and its definitely feels like a clay golem. Ace work!
Kunikos: Looking at google results, the Girallon seems to have four arms, so it probably would be a good deal of work unfortunately. In addition to the new model and texture, adding new limbs would at LEAST require an edited skeleton, some animation edits, and then a re-export of all of the animations.
Not prohibitively difficult, but definitely not easy either.
A two-armed sasquatch or something wouldn't require animation edits, but it's still need a new model, texture, etc.
Would it be hard to modify your clay golem into a tough looking gorilla, such as a Girallon?

Yay! i finally got this baby up and working! It's simply breathtaking, what a masterpiece! Very easy to tint to your taste was well.
P.S. Thanks Schazz for helping me understand how to actually import the golem into my module! _________________________ From someone who is starting to feel like an Ent among saplings when playing computer-based D&D games...
Hey guys, just a heads-up that I uploaded a MotB-compliant version.
No actual changes to the model itself. I'm afraid I haven't really had the time to hunker down and try to sniff out those few annoying bugs. I do hope to have an update eventually though! I have not forgotten!

Ok, I have upgraded to v 1.11153 now, it still happens the same way. I am beginning to think that this neat clay golem gets in conflict with the one supplied via MotB. Shall I rename the blueprint file or something? _________________________ From someone who is starting to feel like an Ent among saplings when playing computer-based D&D games...

Hi! It looks simply stunning but I cannot make it happen. I have really followed the instructions. I have v. 1.10 and MotB. I entered it under hakpaks in module properties too. It simply doesnt show up, and then within seconds, the toolset crashes on me?? _________________________ From someone who is starting to feel like an Ent among saplings when playing computer-based D&D games...

TheMastermind: Haha, cool that someone caught that. Yeah, the golem is originally a creature from Jewish folklore, and stories often would involve a command word being written on the Golem's forehead to bring it to life. I saw a few drawings with "golem" in hebrew scrawled on its forehead, so I thought that would be a neat touch.
