A sneaky assassin out on the Vilhon Reach added spikes on the heels of her boots to inflict more damage to her victims. Known only by the codename "Honey Nugget", she has always been an innovator, with trademark MOs such as polymorphing into a chicken to better sneak up on her targets. Somehow, somewhere, someone saw these and brought the idea to Waterdeep, where it has caught on with the Nobles and Lady Knights. Faerun will never be the same if this trend lasts.
Fully tintable chainmail and leather high-heeled boots for all races. Just drop the extracted folder into your override and you're done... these shouldn't conflict with anything out there. Shows up in the toolset as chain shirt boots number 59 and hide leather boots number 59. There are 6 blueprints supplied so that people can directly import them into their game via the console. See the readme for details.
This is the first 3d model i've ever done, and i'll eventually upgrade the leather texture when i get better at texturing. Poly count is reasonable at 696 triangles... default Obsidian boots are around 590 triangles so these shouldn't impact performance at all. LOD L1 and L2 versions are included in the models, somewhere around 475 triangles for L1 and 350 triangles for L2. Done entirely with Blender and Gimp.
great work! I'm holding off on the vote at the moment because of one thing I find aesthetically wrong with them, but by no means is it any fault of your own as I am not sure if it's something possible to correct or not.
While toying around with these, I realized that the effect of putting on high heels is not reflected in the models (and again, I don't know if it's possible). What i mean by this is that when my 5' 1" girlfriend puts on 4" heels, she's 4" taller in effect. I was looking at these in the toolset and by making sure I matched zoom levels each time and using the gridlines as a reference, these boots don't actually raise the heel of the model, in effect altering it's height. The calf and and knee never elevate, and actually don't alter size at all. What this does is, imho, make the lower leg look "stubby" or shorter than normal because of expecting the heel of the leg to actually be raised.
No, it's no deal breaker, and you could say I am being nit-picky. it's just one of those aesthetic details that my eye keeps being drawn to; you know, where something just seems "off" and you can't figure out what it is?
So, not sure if it's possible to alter the physics of the model like that, but it would be really awesome if you can.

Gorgeous work! I'm curious as to who did the black outfit, with the dagger at her hip? It goes perfectly with the boots and I intend to beg my Site Admin to add them both. :)
Got it :) Thanks very much RunnerDuck. So that explains why halflings can use these right now. Just need to do the Half-Orc Dwarf and Gnome ones.
Umm the ones menfolk will get right now if they equip them are just default male boots, Gwydion. At some point i'll probably do a scaled down male version, just so they look different than the regular Obsidian content.
Sorry, what I said previously isn't completely true. Elves don't actually have their own skeleton, just their own racial type. The EEM and EEF bodies are built using the HHM and HHF skeletons. So make that 8 skeletons, but 10 racial\gender variants.
There are 5 seperate race skeletons (making 10 skeletons to cover both genders) that pc characters use. HHM and HHF cover human, half elf, half drow, wild elf, genasi, aasimar, tiefling, and yuan-ti. EEM and EEF cover the elf races and sub races, except wild elf. GGM and GGF is used for gnomes, OOM and OOF for half orc and grey orc, and DDM and DDF for dwarf.
Of course, when you make heads, they follow their own race codes. (and actually, halflings use thier own helmets instead of the human ones.) But all other body parts for PCs will use those 10 skeletons.
Thanks very much for the comments and the vote, Yaddaman :) Never thought of d20 modern but yeah... they'd be appropriate there.
RunnerDuck, thank you so much for saving me a ton of time! So halflings are really the same skel as humans? And the game just rescales them down? Does that apply to gnomes -> dwarves as well? So the only player body skeletons are human (used by half elves, elves, halflings, planetouched, tieflings) dwarf (used by gnomes?, yuan-tis?) and Half-orcs? Reason i'm asking is that i'm about to post a new version of Jester's blender scripts here on the vault (with his permission).
These boots are wearable right now by menfolk. I've included male versions that are really just cloned Obsidian default male boots, so that these show up in the toolset. You're right though... it would be nice to have a unique looking pair for men to differentiate them from the stock game models.

Nice little mod, adds a little "naughtyness" to the game. Also useful for a d20 modern game...
Good to see someone doing armor again, there seems to be a kind of dry spell in that department. And not many boots to boot ;)
You actually don't need to make a seperate set for halflings, as they use the same mdbs that human/halfelf/planetouched use. But making versions to cover all the other races would be a good idea, just to keep things consistant. (Yes, even dwarf, I'm sure someone somewhere plays one.)
I would make male versions of them as well. Not to say that the men should all be running around in stilletos, but maybe make a shorter heeled variation, more of a riding boot for the menfolk, just so the boot will be universally wearable by all characters in the game.
Hi Therico, thanks very much for the kind words and the vote!
As far as voting goes, vote what you honestly feel they're worth. I'm not asking for high scores (although that would be nice), i'm asking for honest scores. I did these mostly because i wanted a pair for an npc in a mod i'm working on, and i've got what i wanted out of this (the gold chain ones in pic 2). I also did them because it was what i felt would be a simple enough project for a first model to do a good job with.
As far as i know these are the only high heeled boots on the vault, and i've got to suspect that this was because modders weren't interested in doing these, and/or users didn't request them. So really if people don't like them i'd like to know, as i'd be better off spending my time on something like heads which people DO want. On the other hand if people comment/vote that these are worthwile, I'll spend the time and effort doing a few more styles and things like snakeskin ones.

This looks so cool. I have no idea how to score this, It looks great, and I will use it ASAP! But it might not be for everyone. Would an 8 sound good enough?
BTW, Honey Nugget is an old friend of mine from way back. We were working on a NWN1 PW set out on the Vilhon Reach that never quite made it to prime time. Her DM avatar was a chicken, and would often attack other DMs (me) and "go for the eyes" when you would least expect it. Very, very vicious. She was into stuff like these boots, and doing these reminded me of her. Hence the background for the boots.
Folks, if you like these and use them, please consider voting or at least commenting, as i've got no idea if people like them or just download and delete them :)
